Love it
Just need 2 words. Love it,
Love this tuner!
Myself and my son are hard on tuners. After years of using other brands that would break or not function because they did not maintain contact with the instrument, we finally found the perfect tuner for us. It's very compact, it seems very accurate (I haven't done any comparison with other tuners). The display is great, easy to read in dark rooms and my bad eyesight. Liked… read more it so much, I bought a few for gifts, and they all love them.
My FAV clip-on
It's my favourite clip on tuner. Easy to read, fast, and accurate.
So worth it
For the past 20 years I tuned my acoustic guitar using a pitch pipe, and then fine tuned it with the 5th fret method or harmonics. Later on I used a phone app, which was okay. It wasn't worth it to me to buy an actual tuner because I only ever played unplugged worship sets or as a home hobbyist. But I could hear when a string was just slightly out of tune. Enter the Unitune. It… read more defaulted to Needle mode, which in my opinion is easier to read than Strobe mode, but there's a decent amount of play, i.e. inaccuracy. A string could still be flat/sharp and the Needle would show as being spot on, hence the ±0.5 cent accuracy. Play a chord and the discordant notes grate my ear. I'm knocking off half a star for the somewhat poor instructions. The button for switching between Needle and Strobe mode needs to be pressed twice in rapid succession to toggle. I was an idiot and only pressed once, and I was like, I don't see a difference. In addition, YouTube reviews only showed the Needle mode. The Strobe mode, while not as clean to read, is more accurate. I had never seen or used a strobe tuner before, but I figured it out. There is a horizontal line of dots and dashes, kind of like Morse code, and the display makes it look like the line is moving left (flat) or right (sharp). If in tune, the line looks static. The Strobe mode is truly more accurate, hence the ±0.02 cent accuracy. Regarding build, I love its size, easily fitting in a pocket. Folded up, it's smaller than the palm of my hand. I'm reluctant to say it's sturdy, but I'll have to wait and see how it holds up over time. Probably worth mentioning since I see people putting phones in their pants back pocket: I don't think it would survive if you were to sit on it. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. I already recommended it to a friend. Clip-on tuners are way more accurate than the standard microphone tuners. If you're a beginner and can't hear an out-of-tune guitar, then a standard $5-10 tuner or phone app should suffice. However, if you need the clean sound of a well-tuned guitar, the Unitune is worth it.
Very Accurate
After tuning my 12-string with a Snark, I would still have to fine tune by ear. Not with this thing. Tuning is deadly accurate on the first try. Highly recommended. AAA+++
