Washburn Comfort G25SCE Acoustic-Electric
Wanting to purchase A good starter guitar for my granddaughter I contacted Gage at Sweetwater. After A few other recommendations I decided on the Washburn Comfort G25SE and man I am glad that I did. I waited 2 days after receiving it to open the box ( -5 degrees here) I was amazed by the quality and sound of this guitar. It plays better than some of my more expensive guitars. I… read more might have to keep it for myself and buy her something else.
I usually play bass, but...
I started by playing guitar years ago. I put new strings on an old guitar and started playing again. Being out of practice, it didn't sound great. It also hurt my forearm where I rested it on the guitar. When I saw the Washburn with the comfort cut- out I thought it was what I needed. Well... I was right. My forearm is getting the break it needed.Being a novice player, this new… read more guitar is a lot easier to play. It has a wide nut, so the strings are farther apart for my fat fingers. The sound I'm getting is instantly better. There are some other features I like. It has a built-in tuner. The fret markers are on the side of the neck, which is fine since I'm not looking at the guitar from the front. Anyway, so far I love it.

Now I know
I've only owned a handful of acoustics in my life, and none come close to how this guitar sounds. To me, this guitar is close to immaculate. The only quibble I have is no strap peg by the neck. I read some reviews on Amazon that complained of cheap tuning pegs. No such trouble here. Maybe they got theirs from a less than reputable supplier. It's hard to go wrong ordering from Sweetwater.… read more I've been playing with the phosphor bronze strings that come with it, but plan to switch to 80/20s and see how it sounds. Have a feeling it will sound even better.
Wow, Washburn!
I had been looking for a new acoustic guitar. My "go to" was a Martin DCX1e and it has served me well, but I was ready for an alternate 6 string and was looking for something a little sexier. I finally settled on the Washburn Comfort G25SCE (a close second was the Yamaha A3R). I couldn't find a Washburn comfort to try near me, so it was a leap of faith. My rep Kingsley Davis was… read more a great help fielding questions for me, so I took the plunged with a little nervousness not knowing how it would play or sound. So... The thing is an absolute drop dead gorgeous guitar with fantastic playability and incredible sound. Trust me, the sound is rich, the highs are clearer than my Martin dread and the low end is still there – lots of sustain and rich overtones, but focused. I haven't picked up the Martin since I got it. The only thing I'm planning to do is get an alternate saddle and sand it dow just a tad, aside form that, the setup was great. I couldn't be happier. Even my wife (A.K.A. "Why do you need another guitar") is impressed with the look and sound. It's a flat out steal for the price.
