Have Two from the ‘90s
I bought the first Boogie Thiele with an EV-200L in about 1991. A ported cab but small enough to fit in my tiny home. I bought the second Mesa-Boogie Thiele with an EV-200M about a year later. I've run these as everything from back line monitors to out front mixed pieces being fed by an 8-channel mixer. They're invaluable and doggone near indestructible if you take a modicum… read more of care moving them. They won't give you closed back V30 cab sounds, but they were never meant to. They give great headroom even with less than optimal amps. I've run my VHT 12-20 Special R/T through them and they never failed to deliver. If you're looking for a 1x12 extension cab, you can't go wrong with these. The voice is neutral and can handle almost any power you send their way.
Perfect
I've had this cabinet for about a year and can safely say I'm still 100% happy with it. It pairs nicely with my Mesa Boogie Mark V25 and has a nicely balanced tone. When I was shopping for a cabinet, my main concerns were staying away from something that might sound too boxy, especially considering the fact that I have to play at volume levels appropriate for apartment living. This… read more cabinet definitely delivers and sounds well rounded at any volume level. I would definitely buy it again.
Big sound
If you just play around your house I"m certain you will never need anything more than this. This thing rocks! Great bottom end as well as mids and highs
Great Cab!
These cabs are amazing. The stock speaker is okay but super picky about amps. It sounds great with Mesa amps (obviously) but certain amps, usually brighter sounding amps like my EVH 5150 III are incredibly picky. The blue channel sounds fizzy but the green channel (voiced after a Fender Blackface) sounds warm and crisp. That bring said, I switched the speaker to a Celestion G12K-85… read more (an older version of the K-100) and it ROCKS. I get warm cleans, tight rhythms and soaring leads. The ported design makes this sound like a nice 2x12 and I get amazing low end response. Definitely a keeper!
I love it. No regrets.
I changed my mind a hundred times before I grabbed one; zero regret. A great pairing for my JP2C. It is such a great pairing. It took me 15 min or so to adjust from V30s, but I have zero issue with the speaker. I have also paired it with another 1x12 with a V30. It looks great and as usual the Sweetwater shipping and service was phenomenal.
