Best strings ever!
I was a little hesitant on buying these strings because of the expense. After I put them on my guitar and strummed the first chord I was hooked. I was very impressed by the warmth plus the brightness of the strings. Being that they were extra light, but have a fullness to them that other strings didn't. The polyweb coating makes sliding down the fretboard easy without that noise… read more it usually makes when sliding chords. I'm also impressed by how long the strings stay alive. Easy on my fingers for longer playing time without getting tired. I have since bought 3 more sets and will continue to buy them as long as I have acoustic guitars. Thanks elixir for making the perfect set of strings.
Elixer Polyweb Strings
I use polyweb Elixers on all my guitars, long lasting and sound great. Do yourself a favor GET THEM
My favorite acoustic strings
These strings are fantastic. I've also used Polyweb on my electric guitar for a few years, but my favorites are Nanoweb and D'addarrio NYXL, as I prefer a bit brighter and crunchier tone for electric. As far as acoustic tone, these Polywebs do not have a "dull" tone that I sometimes associate with "warm" as the sound description. They have more of a warm resonance, creating a nice… read more depth. I actually prefer the very slick coating which makes playability a breeze. String talk is greatly reduced, as is unwanted overtones and noise. These also last the longest out of all of the acoustic strings I've used. For me, this is perfect because I may only play acoustic a few hours a month and the tone is consistent for months on end. The only downside is there may be a bit of flaking along the string where it is picked. But, it appears that they may have tweaked the formula over the years because the flaking is far less apparent. In summation, if you like smooth feeling acoustic strings that keep a consistent, warm tone, give these a try.
Elixer polyweb .010 acoustic strings.
I've tried these twice several years ago and replaced them within an hou with heavy gauge Martins for maximum volume. Well...after a few years, my acoustics "not cheap ones" developed a belly, which was problematic and required repairs and they also disappointed in the longevity factor vs loss of tone. NOW...only polyweb...they start out out not quite as bright as uncoated, but… read more play em for a week and recompare and you'll faint the opposite. And that flaking crap...it's only in the pick area and of zero consequence. Not to mention almost total relief from string squeak....which you're used to....just wait till you've played without it for a while...they're slick and cool folks
Excellent strings, hold their tone to the end pretty well
Love these strings. I also like Nanoweb version but these have a bit less string noise but yet still have a pretty decent tone to them (nanoweb's are brighter). I switched to these instead of the Nanoweb. Their tone lasts, eventually they fray out but even as the do they seem to hang on to the tone really well. Tune well.
