I really like this case. The latches aren't your typical case latches, they are far more substantial. The case doesn't just drop closed like a plywood case, but when closed it seems impenetrable. You might have to wiggle it a little to shut it, but rest assured your instrument will be safe as a baby in it's mother's arms.

Thanks to the case finder function on the Sweetwater, I was led to this case to replace the aging OHC I wanted to preserve. I was a bit leery, given the non-standard dimensions of the Byrdland (short scale; thin-line). The case fits perfectly - better, in fact, than the OHC! Gretsch fans: if you need a case for a Gretsch "Super Chet", this is THE case!!! My thanks to Ben Rys & the folks in the Sweetwater guitar gallery for assisting me with the case-search that led to this SKB case. My 5-star rating says it all: an amazing find for such a rare & unique guitar! The case fits this guitar PERFECTLY. The "Super Chet" belongs to a good friend; he wants… read more to give the guitar to his son someday. It's badly in need of some serious repair work, so it'll be headed off to a luthier soon. This case will immediately provide the necessary protection to ship it safely to the luthier, and will continue to provide that same protection after the restoration has been completed. The bottom line: a good investment for a rare Gretsch.
