Excellent strings
I love the sound of ernie balls. But they never last long. I'm extremely corrosive for whatever reason and strings simply don't last for me. These however do. They're very bright, hold tune and can take a beating. Found my new strings.
Wouldn't spend the extra monies on these.....
Tried these for the first time mainly to compare against the DRs I typically use. Well, before I even had the high E string seated and tuned it snapped......not so break resistant if you can't even tune it to standard tuning. I've been playing guitar for about 22 years now and I've never had a string snap on me while re-stringing one of my guitars.....I've had wound strings unwind… read more once it had tension on it but never snap.....I figured these would be a bit stronger than the average string but I was wrong......I do know is will never order these again.....I will stick with what I've had very little issue with......DRs.
A pleasant surprise
I've been using Elixers on all of my guitars for years because my hands just have this terrible ability to destroy strings within 36 hours. I had tried various alternatives over the years but all of them fell flat in terms of tone and longevity. When EB announced that they had some new fangled strings that were supposed to last a real long time AND were apparently more durable than… read more your average string you better believe I went to try them out. Unfortunately they had to sit in my case for a while as I can get months out of a set of my normal strings. The day finally came around so I strung up my guitar and to my surprise the strings sounded fantastic, a tad brighter than I was used to but not in a bad way. A little over 2 weeks later and they've definitely broken in but they still sound almost brand new!!!!!! I'm not sure if I've been completely converted but they've definitely found a place in my lineup. If you're looking for a killer string that can hold its own against sweaty palms these are certainly worth considering.
