Good string but original was better
I've been using Blue Steel Mediums for 20 years and always liked them. They aren't the longest lasting strings but the price is low enough to change sets frequently without much pain. They sound bright and balanced as you would expect. My principle criticism is that 2 or 3 yrs ago Dean Markley changed the bottom string gauges from .038, .048 and .058 to the current .036, .046 and… read more .056. This is VERY disappointing to me. I use many alternate tunings and I loved how the original heavier gauge would keep appropriate tension when down-tuning. Now the set is just like everybody else. Nothing separates it from the pack. The original gauge made Blue Steels unique and now they have lost that. My guitar just doesn't sound the same.I will have to search elsewhere for my strings. Attention Dean Markley: please bring back the original gauge of .038, .048 and .058.
