Outstanding strings
I've tried Martin SPs, John Pearce, Elixers, etc... and my experience has been quite different than from what some of the negative reviews below are saying. I actually really like these strings! Paradigm strings (phosphor bronze in medium-lights) have a rich full-bodied tone that's punchy but not overly bright IMHO. For reference, I have them installed on a Martin 000-28 and… read more a Blueridge BR-160 dread.
So so
The service from Sweetwater was very good as usual. The brand and set I wanted was out of stock at the time I needed strings so I ordered these. So, these were a second choice. Upon installation the sound seemed pretty even top to bottom. No problem there. As advertised these strings took a pounding through two gigs and didn't break. No problem there either. But they had no life… read more in them by the end of gig number two. That surprised me since I believe they are supposed to be coated or treated. I won't use these again. Hopefully, my strings of choice will be back in stock soon.
Sounds Great On A Cheap Guitar.
I've been waiting a little while to review these as the selling point is their longevity. I have a set of these on a Gretsch Jim Dandy (it's nice to have a guitar that you can throw in the back seat without a case and not cry over if it gets ripped-off). I've been using the EB Everlasts. I've also tried d'addario EXPs on this as well. The EXPs last longer than the Everlasts but… read more the Everlasts sound better on this rather budget friendly piece of equipment. The verdict: they sound better than the EXPs and last longer than the the Everlasts. A new favorite.
Ernie Ball Paradigm Strings
I got in a deal where the company wanted people to test these before they put them out. I got these acoustic medium light gauge strings. Frankly, I think they are overall the best sounding strings I've tried on my Martin. Additionally, I don't really attend to cleaning strings like I should, and these still sound great after six months! I would recommend these to any acoustic… read more (especially finger-picking) guitarist.
Nice Box - Bad Sound
After all the hype surrounding these strings, I decided to try them out. The strings come in a very nice glossy box, but that was about the best part. After stringing up and stretching them out, I have come to the conclusion that these are the worst strings I have played in a long time. They sound very tinny and have little bottom end. I play a Gibson J45 which typically has… read more a very balanced sound. I still decided to play them through the weekend, but that is all the longer they'll be staying on. I can't find anything I really like about them other than the packaging. I hate the idea of having to change strings right after I just put a brand new set on, but I'm afraid that is what I will be doing.
