Best Acoustic Strings I've Tried

Alex

If you play both electric and acoustic guitar in the same set, it can be hard going back and forth as most acoustic strings sets are way heavier than your standard electric set. Or if you're like me, and play acoustic guitar like it's an electric by bending the strings, these are for you. Please note the G string is not wound on this set. I prefer that and it makes it easier to read more bend the string. But you do lose a bit of volume on that string and it takes a little while to get used to. Not a deal breaker for me but important for you to know.

Far Exceeding Expectations!

In a word…Wow! I've been using Elixirs for sometime on my Gibson 45, and thought maybe they were the best I would find. Looking for a string with a little more warmth I took a chance on these. So glad I did. They are exactly what I wanted. A warmer sounding string that would still have enough presence where needed and with minimal fret hand noise. The fret hand noise is read more just slightly more pronounced with these than is perceived with the Elixirs; however the tone is worlds above and at virtually half the cost. I went with the 10-52 gauge set and again, wow! An incredibly balanced set with all the lows, mids, and highs right where they should be and in just the right amount. Having the unwound 3rd makes for such an improvement in playability as well. As far as longevity, I can't say yet as I've only used them for a few days now, though I don't think the Elixirs last as long as many state either, and with a couple sessions in now I think they will provide at least average lifespan expected from a quality string set. My next Sweetwater purchase is a box of these strings before they jump in price…I won't be buying the Elixirs again so long as these are available. I have a hunch these are going to gain a high level of popularity. Thanks to Ernie Ball, Matt Kreager and the rest of the great staff at SweetWater.

Love them

They really bring out the soul of mu guitars. I've tried a lot of different brands and finally landed on these for the rich full acoustic rock and blues I play.

Great sounding strings

I recently put these on my 1975 Ovation Custom Balladeer and I am very pleased. I tune all both this and my 12 string Ovation down a whole step and the feel is very nice, smooth and not too loose. Nice clear sound and easy to play.

Mind blowing.

Right out of the package you can feel how silky the guitar strings feel in your hand. When you get these on your guitar and tuned, you can really hear the clarity and output of the ring and tone. It says "mellow" tone but it's a very vibrant tone that really has a mix of mellow as well. String bending is a breeze, and the strings feel super silky on the finger tips. Over all these read more are amazing strings. Definitely on my top 5 list.
