I have been playing for 4 decades. I was never a fan of phase pedals. I never found a use for one being a blues based classic rocker. This was most likely due to two things. First, I always placed the pedal in either my effects loop or if I was using an amp without a loop I placed the pedal near he end of the chain with the delay and reverb pedals. Second, the phase pedals I had read more tried were complicated to use and I never found any settings I liked. Then I viewed a video by Josh at JHS demonstrate his 3 Series Phaser. I was beautiful in its simplicity. Josh also taught me the correct placement for a Phase pedal. Now it's before my dirt pedals and now I have found all sorts of settings that work with multiple amps and guitars. I LOVE this pedal.

Great Phaser for Bass

I switched out my EHX Small Stone for this one because the Stone was too intense for the bass. The blend knob fixes that problem perfectly. You can get just the right amount of phase, so it can be as subtle as you want. Compared with the Stone, this one also has (even at a high blend) what I'd call a "smoother" or "cleaner" sound. The phase is there, but it doesn't add the raunchiness read more of the Stone. This is also a good thing for bass. I did try the pedal a bit on my Strat as well, and it sounds good; whether it's preferable to the Stone on guitar is a matter of opinion and I have not formed one. Another plus over the Stone (and most other phasers, I think) is the tweakability of this pedal. While 3 knobs and 1 switch may be bare bones for some pedals, for a phase shifter, that's a lot! The rate knob is very effective and has a wide range. I'm still getting to know the impact of the width knob. It affects the frequency range that is subject to the phase shifting, and this creates a subtle change in the sound. Not as important a tweak as blend and rate, but it doesn't hurt to have it available. The feedback knob has a strong impact on the intensity of the sound. Low position is a more subtle overall effect; the up position is still a bit less than the Stone, I think, but gives enough to make it a strong phase where desired. Because of the smoothness and ability to go subtle, I think this is a great phase shifter for bass.

Great Meat And Potatoes Phaser

First off, this is only the second of the JHS "3 series" I've been exposed to, so I can't speak for the whole line. Having said that, it turns out I'm a phaser fussy. My benchmark for decades was the MXR Phase 100. When it died I began just casually looking for an adequate replacement. Now, a phase shifter is not a pedalboard essential for a lot of folks and, for many of us, read more a super tweaky exotic one just doesn't make financial sense. I'm sort of in that category. Enter JHS. I heard josh do a demo of a number of his 3 series pedals and bingo, there was a phaser. From what I heard, I thought "this could be it and at a price I can live with, even". So I caught a sale at Sweetwater and brought it home. Build quality is fine and, at first, the "three knobs and a switch" control set almost seemed like overkill for a phaser. Then I dug in. It'll do slow and thin, like Waylon Jennigs' Telecaster on so many of his recordings, with a lot of control over the finer points. But, flip that "Regen" switch and you get that thick, chewy, flange-y EVH thing, again with a lot of control over the finer details that you don't get with the one-knob jobbies. Face it, most folks don't need a phaser all the time. But when you do need one, it has to be the right one. To this phaser-fussy, the right one is right in that little white box, regardless of what I need out of it.

Remarkable versatility in a Phaser

JHS has done it again! And at an incredible price point. The Series 3 Phaser is the ultimate in versatility and control. Everything from very mild and subtle long phase sweeps (think MXR early Edward tones) to funky psychedelic. The feedback switch is fantastic. But the key to this pedal, and the main reason why I bought it, is the Blend control. Allows me to dial in just the read more right amount of phase to my signal. Perfect. All at an amazing price. Well done Josh and JHS!

This is a great phase shifter the switch makes it extremely versatile I loke the fact that on the traditional side it reminds me of the 70's phase shifter I had way back the Mutron Phase Shifter I had through the late 70's and early 80's it was a monster sound machine. this gets real close. I t really is a sweet pedal I own 3 other 3 series pedals thank you Josh for being such a read more Genius and thank you Sweetwater for being one of the best sellers out there.
