What a cool pedal!
"This was the first time I used Sweetwater. I'm usually a have to touch and play it first person. However, with pedals it usually comes down to who has them. I not only got one of the last 3 (Keeley 30MS) it was on sale with free shipping! Got it in a few days and am in the process of trying to figure out all the sounds from this awesome pedal - may take me a while.. Your sales… read more engineer Zac was great, responsive, and ensured me the stock number in your site was correct. Great job Sweetwater!"
Liked it so much, I bought two.
As a point of reference, at lower settings, the 30ms sounds a lot like the Boss Dimension C and there's nothing wrong with that. Mark Lettieri's demo is using it a a stronger setting--still great, but FYI you don't need to go that far into delay if you don't want to. Where the 30ms differs from the Dimension C is that (a) when run in mono, the 30ms has adjustible reverb on top… read more of the naturally occuring delay (b) the 30ms has a much greater range of adjustment, especially in stereo, (c) in addition to Abbey Mode (that's the big "thing") there is also "Dimension" which is meh, and Slapback which is fine but nothing special. But my golly Robert, that Abbey Mode is somethin. Here's why I bought 2. If I have the instructions right, and they are minimal, there are actually 4 routes through the pedal. (1) Mono into the pedal, mono out, (2) Mono into the pedal, stereo out, (3) Stereo into the pedal, mono out and (4) Stereo in and stereo out. All 4 of these sound different to me. Problem is, the pedal's mono/stereo selector is internal, so you get the picture. Besides, with 2, you can chain them together. This can get a bit cave-like, but man, it's a big cave. I suppose I could have gotten a Strymon instead and probably should give it a try, but other than those internal switches, the 30ms is free of hidden functions, submenus, firmware, etc, which is great IMO, for such a sophisticated effect. If I had to choose between the 30ms and the Dimension C, I'd give the nod to the 30ms for it's versatility. But they are both spectacular. 5 stars for the 40ms, 4.999 stars for the Dimension C.
A Country Honk Must have
Really shines in Stereo But it's fortes for me is in between a Ventra Vibe and a Keeley Compressor in mono where I was able to remove a Reverb because the Reverb on it is very good. A Chicken picking king setup. Its not a one trick pony and that's what you want. Every guitar player needs one, play rhythm behind a compressor and you can just "ride" behind that delay, its pretty quite,… read more Great tool!
My Keeley Double-Tracker Pedal
For the last two years, at least, I have been looking for a way to duplicate the double guitar sounds that The Ventures recorded way back in the 60's. One particular song stuck out in my mind, and that tune is called, "La Bamba." It is on "The Ventures A Go-Go" and "Where the Action Is" albums. I revamped my pedal board over the last weekend which included the installation of this… read more pedal. I also added a second amplifier because the output of this pedal is stereo. So, when I powered up and plugged my Mosrite guitar in, I hit the intro to "La Bamba" and lo and behold...it was like I entered the gates of heaven. The sound I heard was a definite duplicate of their original two-guitars sound. It reverberated from two sides of the room and it sounded just like their recording. Sweetwater, if I ever become famous, we will both go down in History because you provided me the way to re-create this sound and I purchased this pedal from you. You shall forever receive your due credit for this discovery. Oh, one more thing, (A Columbo Moment) the Electro-Harmonix Hum DeBugger I also purchased from you should receive the same amount great criticism. It stopped my Mosrite single-coil hum in its tracks. It was like receiving a double-dose of heaven. I would like to add even one more thing, the MXR Iso-Brick was a big help in re-configuring my pedal board. I will send pictures to Joe James for you all to peruse. I documented everything. I am a very happy Vietnam Veteran Guitarist. Thank You.
Keeley 30ms
Perfect fit for my two amp setup. Love the sound it was exactly what I was looking for. Nice lush fat stereo surround sound. Fills the stage nicely for a single guitar in a three piece band. Plays very well both clean and with overdrive. Be patient setting it up. Try out all mode dip positions, it took me a bit of tinkering to get my sound right but well worth the time to learn.… read more The Double tracking pro mode is a nice compliment to playing in mono all night. Perfect fit.
