I have it in two of my guitars. I may put it in another. Its smooth and clear. The harmonics are better clearer and sweeter in alnico pickups. Ceramics are more grit and gnarly.

Output levels don't mean much to me,I judge pickups based on tone. I've always used, and liked, Alnico II pickups in my Les Paul's for their warmth. However, I just bought a used Les Paul Studio with the 498T in the bridge position and I'm really impressed. It cuts thru any mix nicely and with a subtle volume roll-back cleans up really well. I may replace the Alnico II pickup in read more my other Les Paul with one of these.

Not What I expeceted.

It says "HOT" it is not. It came in the bridge postion of my SG standard. It is only slightly hotter than the 490 in the neck. They say it is rated at 16.4 ohms. I seriously doubt that. I will be doing some "hands on testing" with other 16.4 ohm pick up I have. The good things about it are its clarity, and the high end it brings out. You can hear every note from every string, so read more there is absolutly no :muddyness" at all. It is definatly not a 496R hot ceramic pick up by Gibson. The 496R is rated at 16.4 ohm as well. But the output is very much more noticable. Granted the pickups have a diffrent kinds on magnets. If a pickup is marketed as being "HOT" it should be "HOT"
