Follow up
I"m following up to the last review. Sweetwater"s excellent customer service came through again and sent me a replacement neck! The replacement neck is in better shape fret wise than the first. The only thing that gets me is the color is less tinted and more of a new white maple which is fine but also the heel isn"t as wide as the first so there"s a bit of a gap at the pocket. Great fat neck - may require a lot of work
Initial inspection of the neck was great. Comfy fat shape, great cut of wood with a slight flame, good finish work and the fretwork looked really good....or so I thought. I got the beck of my guitar and noticed that the 10th fret was a good bit lower than the rest. Unfortunately I didn"t notice until after I installed tuners, did the rough nut slotting with gauged files and installed… read more the string tree. I had to substantially level, recrown and polish all of the frets to be as low as the other to eliminate fretting out. A lot more work than I had anticipated for how nice it looked with I received it. A word to the wise, check the fret leveling with a good straight edge before installing it.
