Studio magic
This seemed to good to be true, the ability to seamlessly switch between 8 amps and 4 cabs (or attenuators) in an instant, while safely muting the unused amps. It really delivers and I couldn't be happier. I run my JCM800, Mesa mkIII, Super reverb, Ceriatone OTS50, Sunn Model T through this thing with no ground hum or noise. I'm able to track guitars in my studio without wasting… read more time reamping, like I used to. Such a time-saver and just plain fun jamming and switching out amps in real time. Price of admission is a bit high, but this is a high quality piece that I have no worries about damaging my vintage and newer amps. I've opened up the device and checked out the build. Its made of top quality parts and has load resistors as well as quality relays. Do yourself a favor and snag one for your studio.
Bad
I had high hopes for this but in the end I think it's just a bad design. The initial impression wasn't great. The enclosure is flimsy and countersunk screws were sticking up all over the top and bottom, scratching anything it was set on. The real problem with it was, whenever I turned the gain or volume up on an amp, it would go into squealing oscillations. This happened even with… read more only a single amp and cab hooked up. The reason I gave it 1 star is because I don't think I got a defective one. If you do a web search you'll find other people with the same problem.
A must if you have multiple Amp's.
This thing is great. I now find myself using all my amp's and cab's again. At times I wouldn't because it was too much of a pain to unplug and re-plug in the different amp's and cab's. Now that is not a problem. I just push a button and I'm using a different amp or cab. Be careful to hook them up correctly and power items on correctly.
