38 years of guitar stringing

I use these string on all my electrics now. Various gauges of course, and they always sound bright, clear and resist rusting better than any I've ever tried. I've got 5 or 6 months worth a pretty steady gigging out of a set of these bad girls. I've got several studio guitars that I've had Cleartones on for well over 2 years and they still sound and feel great. In regards to the read more few negative reviews of these strings, I've had the total opposite experience.

Better than Elixirs

That Dude

I've been using Elixirs for the last 4-5 years on all of my guitars. I'm a sweaty palm dude and once you get past the two guitar threshold, laziness kicks in and the last thing you want to do is add frequent string changing to your list of chores. For 3 of those years I also played out every weekend and needed strings that would last. I tried these out at the recommendation of a read more colleague, and no kidding - I'm blown away. The output and sustain claims compared to other coated strings (aka Elixir) are legit and not just marketing bs. Also, my Strat has low end and presence like it's never had before. As far as feel goes, compared to Elixirs, they feel very "matte". You don't feel any slippery coating. They feel like regular strings, but slightly "drier" if that makes any sense. Whether or not this matters to you is personal preference. The only reason why this doesn't get a 5 star rating is because I don't like how my strings came packaged - mine were all bundled together and a pain to untangle. My high E got a little bent as a result. That was annoying considering that these are roughly twice the price of regular string that do come individually packaged. I know it's not as environmentally friendly, but some recycled paper separating each string would be a welcome change. Bottom line - if you come from the coated string world like me, you'll be very pleasantly surprised. If you've always played uncoated strings, you'll be less impressed, but they are still awesome and worth the money.

I typically use Ernie Ball Slinky 10's and then I saw lots of guys starting to use them and how great they sound. I sweat a lot so I have to change string quite often and hadnt ever had a coated string that I liked. The coating is phenomenal and feels great (I can barely feel it) nor has it changed to tone of my guitar at all. I don't understand why they were given 2 or 3 stars read more by that other guy when he didn't even give any real reason besides that he didn't like them. I guarantee that you will love these if you are looking for a great coated string.

Not what I expected.

Wanted to give these a try after reading reviews stating how much better these are compared to Elixirs. They're not bad strings, but I prefer my Elixirs or D'addarios over these.
