It is great
This pickup is great, it has great dynamics, a powerful attack, great clarity and very balanced clean sounds, it behaves very similar to the 59' in its dynamics, but with a more accentuated mid sound, it works well with mahogany body guitars and on digital processors like the Fractal AXE Fx because you don't need too much gain to saturate the input, don't be deceived by its low… read more resistance 7-8K, when you put distortion on it it growls with great crunch and harmonics.
Sweetwater saved the day
The pickups that came with this DIY guitar kit were just meh.I wanted to upgrade to SD alnico 2 pro. Guitar Center back order for 5 weeks with no progress. Seymour Duncan was out of stock as well. Perfect!!
Great pickups !!! Andrew always a pleasure to work with!!

I have used a Duncan '59 neck humbucker and… read more found it fine, but unremarkable. The Alnico IIs have lovely character. Overtones produced in sustained vibrato notes are vocal and sweet, with a gentle howl, and not at all screechy like some aggressive pickups. If you are looking for aggressive in your face pickups you might be better served with something else. If you like a smoother more refined sound the Alnico II Pros might be perfect.
