Sweet spot.
I have this pickup in an ash bodied Ibanez RG and it's precisely what I was hoping it would be! Just fat/warm enough to sweeten up lead work but with fantastic clarity and pick attack. Not all neck humbuckets work in all guitars, but this one functions beautifully right where it is.
Warm, clear, highly versatile
I use two of these pickups in a hardtail Strat setup. The amount of sustain and richness to the sound is incredible. This is a HB pickup that responds really well to EQ changes on the amp negating the need for coil splitting or series parallel schemes. Just twist around the EQ to approximate a single coil sound. Of course it's not perfect but more that enough to cover what you need.… read more These pickups sound equally amazing on overdrive and distortion.
Great all around pickups
If you need a pickup that does it all then this is the one for you!! It cleans up very good with just a simple roll back on your volume knob. I use these pickups in my Gibson LesPaul with 50s wiring and wow!!! Great for country type stuff, blues, jazz, classic rock, and heavy metal It does all very well!!
Rich and Hearty!
This pick up has so improved the sound of my Epi ES335. It has always had a nice sound but the SD Alnico II has taken it to another level. This neck pick up has given me just the sort of rich, creamy tones I love to hear when I'm playing blues. Crank it up and it can get pretty gritty too. I just love the sound now - a truly "sound" investment!
One of the best
This is the harmonically richest PAF neck pup that I've ever used (and I've tried a few; in an SG and a Les Paul.) It has a deeper, yet very melodic tone and a clarity that other neck pickups seem to lack. I'd paired it with a Pearly Gates bridge in a fifty-year old, hand-made chambered Les Paul copy, which was awesome, and it currently resides (with the PG) in an Ibanez ART300.… read more (Now THAT is a combination; better than the vintage LP. Since they don't make the 300 series any more, get yourself a 200 here at Sweetwater and swap the pups. You will not be disappointed.)
