I bought these to replace the really hot pickups that came with my Jazzmaster. The whole reverse winding thing on the neck pickup to help tame that hum is straight up false. I was just trying to make it sound better clean. It didn't work at all and perhaps made it even a little worse. The hum is so bad that it makes playing open chords distracting with all the humming. I'm leaving… read more them in there. I really can't hear much difference than what was in there originally. They're good enough jazzmaster pickups but definitely not worth the expense. and the rusty screws? A bit silly. I guess what I really need is a different guitar entirely.
