I thought I'd found the perfect string
I absolutely adore the feel and sound of these strings. I play them on an old Epiphone archtop. However, it appears the winding on the G is a bit too thin because I've had it fail on two sets already within around 4 months. Like, the string doesn't break but the winding breaks so that you get an annoying feeling under your finger. Great for a huge vintage Epiphone Archtop
I have a 47 Epiphone Triumph. I haven't had it long, but I find it always feels really hard on the fingers, I guess it has a long scale so the strings are at high tension. But I like to use heavy strings for tone. I found I wasn't playing the guitar much. I do tend to use flat wounds, but I tried these and I love them. They are more buttery and elastic, sound amazing. The round… read more winding is finer than most rounds so less clackety. I love the non wound higher strings, they are gold in color. They feel good and, I hate to say it, look classy. The slight color variation I think probably helps you see the distinction easier and so aids quick chord construction. I am curious about the flats now, but will stay with these.
