Go from plain to HOT!
Man this pickup takes your telecaster from ordinary to smokin' hot! Say no more!!
In your face Tele attitude.
A two day delivery - Thank You!! the BG-1400 is evenly voiced harmonically with D'Addario XL Regular Light .010's. It was installed on my Warmoth Tele to replace an overwound, but noisy pup. I loved the sound of the replaced pick up, with it's classic tele spank and sensitivity to hand dynamics, but feared the stacked BG-1400 would not maintain that classic Don Green Bakersfield… read more characteristic - man, was I wrong. Simply put, this pickup has the hotter output of my overwound bridge pup without the noise, and without sacrificing that sought after vintage tone and aesthetics. As previously mentioned in other reviews, the stacked BG-1400 is dimensionally taller than the a standard Fender Tele and barely fits the body rout depth to maintain the correct pick up to string clearance...I got lucky. One more note of concern regarding output of this beast; You will be hard fixed to find a stacked (noiseless) neck pup that is in the ball park, volume wise, at max gain. If you are going for blues/jazz tones when switched to the neck position, you may opt to incorporate a treble bleed capacitor - I use a .15m capacitor to maintain my high end clarity at lower volume settings. It is then necessary for me to set my amp volume for house mixes from the neck pup at max lead volume, then drop the volume when in the bridge position. I very strongly suggest the BG-1400 for the Esquire Telecaster enthusiasts. Pure 'In Your Face' Tele tone without the hum.
BG 1400 Tele Bridge
Very impressive pickup. Typical hum cancelling feel. But the tone is amazing! Definitely new country style with attitude. And still has spank on the bass strings. One minute you can pull off Boot Scoot Boogie and then Jason Aldene the next. Not quite PAF territory but close. Lots of nice mids but great sparkle on the bass strings to still pull off about anything you can imagine.… read more Overdrive tone is out of this world for Tele! Cleans still sound great! My only complaint is the noise cancelling feel from a double stack. But I'm a single coil guy. This pick up is not muddy by any means. Excellent lead tone for Tele Bridge. HAVE NO WORRIES IT BLENDS PERFECT WITH STOCK NECK. Do not let the 30k fool you. The best noiseless Tele Bridge I've ever played.
