Exactly what I was looking for
Great pickup. Open airy quality to it, but not brittle sounding thanks to the higher mids than a single coil. If you find yourself unhappy with the lack of articulation in wax potted humbuckers. Give these PAF style pick-ups a try. My guitar came with the Burst Bucker 61 set. Which while very similar, are higher output, and sharper in the high end frequencies. These are a bit… read more sweeter, and really helped tame the harsh top end. Highly recommend.
Awesome tone
Love this pickup! Installed in the neck position of my 79 Gibson The Paul. Pairs great with the type 2 in the bridge. Full, but not muted tones. Actually has both really nice highs and lows. Gets the "chime" with the mids and highs. I really couldn"t be happier. It"s exactly what I was looking for to restore my old guitar to greatness.
Gibson’s best neck pickup!
Clear as a bell even when overdriven. The note separation is excellent whether clean or overdriven. When playing full chords you easily hear all 6 strings independently which is tough to get sometimes. Definitely the best pickup (that Gibson makes anyway!) in the neck position of a les paul!
