Capo fix
I am purchasing another one of these, I have several 12 strings (4 to be exact) and a capo for each one of them, I keep one in my semi truck for while I'm on the road, I had a small problem with one of them as others have said not full depressing several strings, necessity is the mother of invention and I know that when we as consumers purchase something we want it to work properly… read more and correctly, I totally get this but it would have cost me more time than I wanted to spend having that capo replaced so I took the rubber sleeve off of the string arm,and used an exact o knife to cut a Popsicle type stick from a craft store just narrower than the string arm, I cut that piece just short of the arm length and put that on the arm with some tape, I heated the rubber in warm water and then used a small amount of 3-in-1 oil for lubrication and slid the rubber back on, the capo works just fine now, it might seem like a lot of work but it was worth it to me and it cost me less time than returning it and getting another one ... Happy Playing
Doesn’t work with my 12 string
Like another reviewer mentioned, it doesn't fully depress the middle strings, even with substantial tightening/pressure. The length is great, but the part that actually goes across the top has a substantial curve. The one for my 6 string works great. This one missed the mark.
Great 12-string capo
I've been using a Shubb 12-string capo on my 1968 Martin D12-20 since Shubb since the mid 80's. I'm about to order a new one in brass (the old silver one still works fine but I like the look of brass) and saw the negative review posted here. I feel compelled to give a positive counter-argument and support the makers of a great product. The softer black material on the Shubb (compared… read more with the harder, thinner, material on the G7 capo) works just fine with the light or extra-light D'Addario strings that I've been using on my Martin. I've never had to apply extraordinary pressure to get my Shubb to work on the 12-string. I have nothing against G7 and have had one for more than 5 years. It's a clever design but I find it a bit heavy and prefer my Shubb.
Doesn't do the job. Clunks.
I was hoping this Shubb 12-string capo would do the trick and hold all 12 strings in the right position. It's made extra long to fit the 12-string neck. But I find like other 12-string players that it really doesn't work on strings 8, 10 and 12. There is nothing but a clunk out of them. However, if I put a "massive" amount of pressure on the capo adjustment it will work. But, as… read more you may know, that is not so good for the frets. After buying this one I decided to buy the "G7th" 12-string capo with the notched pad. 5-stars. It's perfect. My Shubb 6-string capo is great, but Shubb's 12-string doesn't cut it. Sorry Shubb.
