They Don’t Call It Boogie for Nothing!
From airy, shimmering cleans to raucous crunch and everything in between, this is a truly great amp. I love it.
Tone.
What a beautiful amp! Side by side with my 65 Blackface Reverb there are similarities - the DR is def brighter + farts out easier on strumming. The CT can take aggressive strumming while maintaining structure much better than the DR. I'm sure if I jacked up the presence I could find shrill highs, but why do that to yourself? The multi watt is helpful if you want to get into fat… read more tweed breakup at reasonable volumes - although I honestly don't think that's why anyone buys this amp. This is a clean machine. To be overly simple I would say Blackface Deluxe Reverb with a mid knob, presence, gain/volume, fx loop + birch cab. Takes modulation pedals extremely well. As far as Sweetwater is concerned - same as always. Great service, fast shipping and delivery even during tough times. Can't recommend enough. Thankful they can get these in stock with all the shortages. As usual my daughters are arguing who gets the amp when I'm too old to use it while they eat the courtesy bit o honey's :)
Wow!
Been playing bar gigs for 25+ years and have had several different amps over the years. I recently sold my twin reverb to buy this amp and although I will miss the Fender, I wont miss the weight and the tome from the California Tweed is unreal. I have played a handful of shows with it this summer, each different size rooms and a couple of outdoor shows and get the amp to break up… read more and just the right volume in any setting using the attenuator, and I get comments on the looks from people who dont even play. LOVE this amp!

I've been fortunate to have been playing Mesa since 1998 from the Tremoverb to the Road King and this amp is easily a classic. If you want that blackface tone it's got it, if you want the tweed sound it's of course there too along with everything in between. The build quality is as expected with Mesa, unparalleled. The baby blue is a show stopper. The combo is fantastic in that… read more the bass never farts out ie Fender. It's basically everything you want your Fender to be and more. This thing is a nostalgia machine and takes pedals exceptionally well too. Could not be happier and Nick always makes it so easy to spend money at Sweetwater. Shipped as if it were a relic complete with candy!
