My favorite 60's Fender Telecaster neck replacement
Not only is the Fender decal(s) in the right place for an early 60's Tele' but this neck feels amazing to play with minimal work needed during initial setup. I typically will take off the very top surface of lacquer on the back of a neck, which I did with this one. But otherwise, it's ready to roll with minimal adjustment. I was also surprised despite the the neck not having any… read more true tension on it - ever - it didn't need major adjustments to the truss rod during setup on a build of mine.
Classic Series 60's Replacement neck
I bought this neck because I really liked the Stratocaster neck of the same ilk. I usually buy unfinished necks from licensed builders, but this time I didn't want to have to paint it and all that. It was really a drop in unit. The tuner holes were predrilled and all I had to do was to bolt it on and file the nut slots a little to bring the string height down. Has a good feel to… read more it and although its supposed to have a 7.25 radius, it really feels much flatter than that which I like. I can't see buying an American made Fender neck as they are twice as much money than just about any other US made necks on the market. I think I really made out on this purchase.
Fender Classic Series Neck
I purchased this neck to go with a partscaster I was building. It paired well with a GFS style telecaster body, but there was about a millimeter gap between the neck pocket and the neck. Of course this is not a fault of fender since this neck is to fender spec and the GFS body is not, just thought I would mention this in case anyone is looking at getting this neck for a similar… read more build. The laquar on the headstock and back of neck looks and feels great and relic's nicely if that is what you are looking to do. The tuner routes are pre-drilled for vintage style tuners, so American standard/locking tuners will need additional drilling. No string tree route, but this allows you to install staggered tuners a la Eric Johnson style if you are going for that aesthetic. Overall very happy with the neck, the only cons that I can think of is the price seems very high for what you receive. This sits in-between the all-parts 150ish unfinished price and a custom Warmoth neck. However, when you consider the All-parts neck comes with Rosewood and this has Pau Ferro, you can't help but feel like this is a "budget" neck at a premium price. Just something to keep in mind, the Pau Perro might very well bother you (especially if you are buying this neck specifically for a "vintage" build). Feels great and is easy to install with the pre-drilled routes for the neck bolts. Also, the 7.25" radius feels great and has yet to fret out. I will plan on putting some darker oil/dye on the neck to make it look closer to rosewood, but I will probably buy an all-parts one in the future since the rosewood neck is a bigger deal that I had originally thought.
Not Rosewood
This is a great neck with easy truss rod adjustment. Just be aware that the fretboard is not Rosewood. This is Pau Ferro and the color is more of a red than a black. Yeah I know, shouldn't be a big surprise because that's how it's advertised; but beware. It's light colored reddish. Nice grain visible, but if you want a Rosewood fretboard this is going to be too light. Understand… read more that Fender is now using this wood because of the environmental concerns and laws. That's cool, but if you want Rosewood - order a Rosewood neck because this will be disappointing.
