Screams!
I put this in my 7 string Ibanez baritone and it absolutely screams. What a difference from the Fusion Edge pickup that came stock.
I am not a fan but you could be..?
I have the 6 string version of the crunch lab. Most people seem like they really like them, but they were just too hot for me. Too much "oomph." Seemed one-dimensional. If you want to sound like Petrucci and no one else, then get these. I actually liked them most when playing lead/solo stuff higher up on the fret board, they really stuck out in that manner. But overall they… read more are a little too muddy for my taste. I replaced them with the Mo Joe pickups and am way happier.
Love it
The 7 string version is just as good if not better than the 6 string version of this pickup I have the 6 string version loaded on my 2 USA Jacksons, and now I have it loaded on my 7 string Schecter C7-Deluxe, great articulation while using it totally cranked up on an ENGL Fireball or a Diezel Herbert, and incredibly subtle with bell like clarity through a 59 Fender Bassman or a… read more 65 Twin Reverb, warm when backed off a bit with a touch of roll-off on the tone pot through a Dumble SD. Just a great all around pickup, I can see using this for everything from smooth jazz to total chaotic metal-core. Couldn't be happier.
Awesome
Truly a very musical pick up that is entirely accurate in its description. This PU woke my old Ibanez, I cant put it down. Should have installed it sooner.
Impressed! Very HOT pickups!
I don't like writing reviews but I will for this product.I own my a pro recording studio, So needless to say I have many guitars and bass guitars and all kinds of other instruments all over the studio. I frequently like to experiment with different guitar pickups and tones; I have used EMG's, Seymour Duncan and Now these. These pickups are very hot! They pick up everything and they… read more do an awesome job at "bucking" the Hum. The attack is crazy awesome... Crystal clear attack even on the highest gain setting on your dirty channel. Loads of Sustain. Just awesome. I had a musician who brought in his schecter loaded with Emg's and choose to use my guitar instead of his own because of the clarity these pickups produce.I have other guitars with Seymour duncans in them, (my Choice pickups) but these DiMarzio's have a different tone that I enjoy very much. I would recommend them to anyone of any style music. Only negative complaint is that there is just slightly too much mids for my taste, however a simple adjustment of EQ solves that problem. P.s. EMG's are overrated! Don't buy them. In my experience they are just terrible and every musician that comes to me gets blown away by my passive Duncans, and now these DiMarzio's. All you EMG fans out there, You've been lied to you little sheep. haha. EMG's = No Bueno! haha
