Cure 112
This amp is everything I had hoped it would be. It reminds me of the way amps used to be bold, uncompressed and very loud. It also makes any of my pedals sound 10x better than with my Marshall Origin or Rocker 15. If anything happened to it I would definitely need another Dr. Z amp asap. I'm a lifelong customer for Dr. Z amps also one of the best values just when you look at the… read more build and attention to detail.
More than just a modern reinterpretation of Blackface/Tweed amps.
While the CURE is a simple amp design sans reverb, bells, and whistles it offers up a wide range of tone that is responsive to the touch. It has this sound that I've been missing from the old amps I took guitar lessons on especially when thumping on the low E string. To my ears it has just the right amount of bass without getting too woofy and muddy. While it doesn't have onboard… read more reverb I'm able to patch in a verb via the fx loop in the back. Honestly I wasn't sure about an American voice amp because I'm squarely in the Brit voiced camp but this new partner really has me rethinking that. I've been in touch with the folks at the Dr. Z factory and they are very knowledgeable, helpful, and were willing to help me with all the nerdy questions I threw at them. I can't really ask for more except another amp from Dr. Z would be nice!
This little amp ROARS!
This amp is perfect for both live playing and practice around the house. It can get loud but also whisper soft due to the design of the level control. I like to set it just to where it’s breaking up a little with humbuckers but cleans up… read more when your roll back the guitar’s volume to seven or so, then hit the front end with an overdrive pedal for leads. It has a little bit of a tweed, mid push so if you choose to set it up like this, I would suggest a transparent flavor of drive to push it. Another plus for this amp is that it’s very lightweight. Get the studio combo padded cover for it. You can’t go wrong with this amp. It definitely has its own voice with is a GOOD thing.
