Easiest buying experience I have had in a long time and they call to check up on if you need anything else. Excellent all customer service, danelectro 59 nos came set up perfect very low action plays beautifully wish I would have realized sooner that I love the lipstick bite and snarl.

What a unique voice. Surprising sustain for a guitar of this cost and construction. The bridge design is a major improvement over the original, I think. (I had one 50 years ago) It was set up fine on arrival, but I've set it up to slide and fingerpick. ( The neck is sturdy enough that putting on 11s and tuning to open E worked as a compromise setup for fretting and slide use without read more adjusting relief.) Both pickups is by far the best selector setting. Volume knobs are reasonably responsive. Tone knobs are not— most of the change happens in 10% of the range. So, you can set and forget but changing on the fly is awkward. This guitar's voice is very well suited to slide, especially into a class A tube amp. I am quite happy.

A FUN GUITAR NOT TOO SERIOUS

For the money this is a nice guitar. The little pickups have a different sound from my Les Paul's, Kramer, and EVH guitars. It works well as a strumming guitar for rhythm playing. It looks like a piece of art from the 50's. In fact when I'm not playing it it hangs on my living wall. The action is a little too high and I have tried to screw down the bridge but it seems to be read more fully screwed down but I can live with it. It's not a shred machine. I would recommend this for anyone looking for something that's not one of the usual suspects. It looks cool and is fun to play.

I've had my eyes on this guitar for over a year but it's hard to find in stock. The look of the instrument is clean and simple, but at the same time stunning. The sea foam green makes it stand out in my collection, and I think the Fender's are a little jealous. Looks aside, the Guitar is very playable, very light, and came set up perfectly. With the selector switch and knobs pushed read more back behind the pickups, it has a comfortable feel, and no concern for changing tone or volume. The two lipstick pickups go from a clean and bright sound, to much heavier when you crank the volume on your map. At the price this guitar is a bargain. I highly recommend it. If you find it in stock, grab it, because it won't be there for long.

Issues with neck

Within 30 minutes of playing this guitar, the rosewood fretboard started to wear off on the edge leaving the white paint of the neck showing though. Disappointing for a brand new guitar.

Nice guitar. Jangle city.

The guitar was setup perfect right out of the box. Very playable. The '59M NOS has a sound of it's own. Similar to a single coil tele or maybe some Filter'Tron type pickups. Not piercing but jangly. I have short, fat, fingers and the neck is comfortable enough for me. I would say the guitar is not made for death metal but more blues/rock/funk sort of thing. But I'm sure you can read more paly whatever you want on it. Overall, I recommend this to anyone looking for a unique style/sounding guitar that is extremely playable for their collection. This is the second Danelectro that I own and both are excellent.

Tons of tone and fun!

Always wanted one of these and finally pulled the trigger! I haven't been disappointed! Great single coil tone and a smooth, playable neck. There is some chime above the aluminum nut, but easily fixable with a mute. It's been a great addition and I've been playing it constantly!

My favorite so far

It's a little smaller if you are more into blues, but man it's so fun to play.

What a guitar!

I wanted something different and decided to go for something I'd only ever seen in the hands of legends. I bought a demo version...and boy does this thing not disappoint! Unreal tones, very bright in the middle position, and incredible clean or distorted. The neck is extremely fast and the aluminum nut adds extra warmth to the tone. Would recommend to guitar players of any level!

Fun Fun Fun guitar

This is just what it looks like - a fun guitar, lightweight and easy playing and the best surf-green paint job out there.. The pickups go from clean to mean and sport a variety of tones. The playability was astounding, bar chords were comfortable, clean and easy-playing, all the way up to the 17th fret. Mind blown. Can't do that on the SG. I ended up returning. Don't let that affect read more your decision. I just couldn't get it hang right. I practice standing up and I could not find a comfortable standing position. It's the same reason I don't own a telecaster. Just an FYI, I'm a short fat older dude, so that don't mean you'll have the same problem. Was very comfortable sitting, but I rarely play sitting. On the fence about this guitar? Call Spencer Kennedy and have a chat a about it. BTW - he's the best representative of Sweetwater sales and service. He's a five star dude!

Amazing guitar!

This is a great sounding and playing guitar. I didn't have to do any setup work on it at all. I expected this to feel kind of like a trashy '60s pawn shop prize but it feels like a professional quality guitar. Perfectly balanced sitting or standing, good electronics, snappy pickups, low and level action:). I made the video right after I took it out of the box.

Great rock and roll machine I had to make some adjustments to the truss rod and the action also adjusted pickup height I'm getting used to .... the volume knobs everybody's complaining about is no big deal you just use your pinky... haven't been able to play it in a band setting yet cuz everybody's locked down but I think it's going to be awesome ...buy it!!

The Great & Not So Great

Michael Yolch

THE GREAT: What I love so much about this guitar is that its tone stands 100% apart from any other guitar I've ever owned, or currently own...and that's A LOT of guitars! It's also a VERY special guitar for playing Blues, because that signature tone sets it apart from so many other Blues players as well. All 3 pickup positions yield remarkable tonal results. In fact, I'm hearing read more new, incredible tones through my pedalboard and amps that I've never heard in over 30 years of playing. The fit and finish on the one I ordered is flawless. The paint is deep and literally perfect. The neck is impeccable in its finish, feel, fret work, intonation etc. This guitar also has a satin finish treatment on the fretboard that looks beautiful and plays very well. THE NOT SO GREAT: Hardware. While the vintage-style tuners work pretty well, and all the chrome work is decent quality, the bridge saddles are extremely sharp...so much so that resting your hand on the corner of the bridge for even a short amount of time will warrant a good bit of stabbing pain. I had to file mine down with a Dremel tool. Worst of all though are the volume and tone knobs. They are made out of incredibly cheap plastic; and BOTH of my tone knobs fell right off within the very first hour of playing. All in all, it's a fantastic guitar that I'm honestly thrilled with despite the small stuff. I find myself reaching for it more than my much higher end guitars, and would instantly replace it if something were to happen to it.
