Danelectro 66-12, 12-string - Limo Black Review

Better than expected, good value at this price point.

Arrived well packed and with no problems. Fit and finish are excellent and actually look better in person. A really good alternate guitar to my more traditional collection, adds a bunch of tones and texture that are a little out of the ordinary. Came almost in tune, no issues anywhere and the build quality was better than I expected at this price range. No high frets, fret ends… read more well dressed, a well cut nut and intonation is spot on. The action is a little high for my personal taste but the saddles have lots of adjustment to lower a 64th, so I will lower that. Glad I pulled the trigger, sweet water service and 55 point inspection are excellent.

Throw your Rickenbacker in the fireplace.

Danelectro have raided the Temple of Rick and kicked over the altar. The Rick 12's are the Stratocasterhtat for years have never had a Les Paul. Rickenbacker, you no longer have a monopoly. I want to point out what makes this guitar DIFFERENT.1. The neck is wide enough to play. That's right, you can hear all of the notes. How novel is that?2. It intonates properly.3. "Jangle and Chime" like Ricks have, but ENTIRELY unlike Ricks- and every other electric 12! 4. The bridge - Oh, that bridge! It's genius! Why didn't anyone think of that already? High mass, half of the strings through ferrules, half through the bridge! DUH-REKA!5. Oh, my goodness, that Lipbucker! It actually made my little old Fender tube pre break up.6. Wait, wait- you can hear all of the notes... it intonates... so what happened when I slammed a big ol' chord?It SLAMMED! I have *never, ever* heard an electric 12 do what thing did. I've tried a bunch over the years, too. I though you couldn't get them to *do* that.I hope, were Semie Moseley alive to see this Korean knock-off of his designs mixed up with the weirdo vintage Danelectro influence, he would appreciate it.Maybe he'd be ticked off, but I hope he'd appreciate it. Because it's good- VERY GOOD. And, like his guitars, it's timber is bright. VERY BRIGHT. Rickenbacker, heh, heh. OMG, this guitar is sooo much cooler than both of the Ricks I was looking at. I could have BOUGHT one of them. I didn't. I bought THIS because I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!It also smokes the pants off of the '66 Starfire I'd been playing.
