Better than expected
WOW - this guitar is fantastic. The smaller body shape is much better for my preferences, and the pickups sound absolutely great! The flamed maple finish is beautiful and the neck and playability are really great. I have been spoiling myself with some much higher priced guitars, but this one holds its own and then some with those, easily. These are my first impressions after… read more playing it for about an hour or two, but I can't imagine anything will change this opinion. Very much worth a look!
What a Killer Guitar!
First of all I totally bought this on a whim. I have a very nice guitar collection but had no semi hollow f-hole guitars but I had been contemplating adding one. Of course the ES335 would be my first choice but no way was I prepared or willing to spend that kind of money. I have browsed these D'Angelico's on line and in the catalog for a long time but never really considered one… read more until this. The sale price, blonde flame, coupled with the USA Duncan Pickup combination made it irresistible. When it arrived I unpacked it, tuned it, plugged it in to give it a run through, the next thing I know two hours have past and I was still playing it. It was that inspiring! Sweet sweet tone, versatile, and it just feels right. It has kept a few of my finer instruments hanging on the wall since I got it. I even gigged it two days later and played the whole show with it. The final verdict? It's just an outstanding guitar worth way more than the purchase price. It is absolutely on equal footing with the Gibson 335 for 1/3 the money. There, I said it! Final note: If you play standing up know that the DC mini is neck heavy and will dive on you with a slick strap. Also the front strap button is mounted on the heel rather than the horn and this has a tendency to push the neck ergonomics slightly forward compared to your typical solid body guitar. The neck slightly forward was a non issue for me while standing, and I solved the neck dive problem by swapping out my usual nylon strap for a leather one. These things are typical for this type of guitar and no design flaw so I still give it a 5 star rating. I know their headstock design is a "some guys like it and some guys don't" thing. I've never purchased a guitar based on what the headstock looks like so for me it was a moot point. I was so impressed with this thing that I went and purchased the full size D'Angelico DC Boardwalk with P90's 4 days later. The full size DC was just as impressive as this mini DC. The D'Angelico quality and mojo is for real.
Mini DC-XT
Very nice guitar. Finish is nicer than I thought it would be.

Smooth as Silk Mini DC XT
Everything that you crave in a semi-hollow. If you're looking for a 345/335 - this one is easily in a league with the best of them. Plays like BUTTER. Tone to die for. The JB / Jazz Duncan Hot Rod combo is a dream team! I have a collection of some nice rides - this may be the one of the sweetest! Sweetwater support was phenomenal! Thanks Zac Coleman!
