Perfect For Downtuned Guitars and my Dustin Kensrue StingRay

I've been using DR Strings exclusively since 2007, first Tite-Fit Pure Blues then standard Tite-Fit (was breaking too many pure nickel strings with aggressive playing). Last month I bought an Ernie Ball Music-Man StingRay Dustin Kensrue artist model (used, sorry to my rep Kevin Samuel haha) which came setup from the factory down two tones in C Standard tuning with custom gauge EB read more Slinky strings (11p-14p-18p-32w-44w-58w). DR or any other string maker for that matter don't make sets anywhere within the realm of close-enough to work with the existing slots cut in the nut so rather than mess around with slot widths and intonation issues I bit the bullet and stuck with the Ernie Balls. Since the only way to buy specific gauges is buying a six-pack of them, I bought six sets in single strings of the custom gauge. When I first got the guitar it had some issues with string rattle (not on the frets) and severe issues with tuning stability. I normally play in Eb/Drop C# so I hoped a string change would resolve it especially considering the extra string tension, but it didn't. Nothing I played sounded in tune as even the slightest change in finger pressure or pull on the neck would detune the pitch. I kind of hated the way the guitar sounded and thought I'd made a huge mistake. I took another gander at DR Strings hoping I missed something when I found the DDTs. They were almost perfect, with slightly thicker 2nd & 3rd and thinner 4th & 5th, but the 6th string was considerably thinner. After some consideration I figured I had nothing to lose and bought a few sets. I just put them on an hour ago and immediately noticed a huge difference in tone and string tension just while winding them to pitch. After getting stable in Drop C# it was like night and day acoustically and with the tension & intonation. Plugged her in to my Dr. Z Maz 18 Jr and oh my lord it sounds incredible! So much warmer and rounder, super clear bell-like tones. Zero issues with pitch and no more having to calculate the applied pressure of each note I play based on string, fret, and hand position. I absolutely love them!

Great Strings with Perfect Gauge For my Tuning

I play in Drop C quite a bit and found 52's to be to light and 56's to be heavy. Found these strings and absolutely love them. DR Strings never let down and I am happy that I finally found a go to string set for a tuning I use a majority of the time. Cheers! Great Service From Sweetwater as always.

My rating is a nice 3 out of 5.DR Strings offers us a set calibrated for down-tuning with these DDT.The overall quality of the strings is good, strings are fresh, they smell good and feel great under the fingers.-> Although, you can sometimes receive sets that are a bit corroded or damaged. This is due to the methods of production: these strings are handmade ! This being said, I've read more had 1 bad set since I started using these (1 out of almost 80 sets).
