Excellent sound and clarity
I'm a metal player and like a wide array of it. Over the last 15 years I've played with a variety of Ernie ball sets, then moved to D Addario NYXLs (and primarily loved the 10/52 set)…..BUT NOW ….I don't think I will ever use anything except these DDT 12/60s for drop tunings. These things sound excellent. Trust me. If you have a decent amp and cab/speaker and enjoy playing… read more drop tunings - drop c and down, then these strings will truly give your tone a huge fat face lift. The sound is just full, rich, powerful, and crystal clear. I have an ax tuned to drop c and another to drop b and I could not be happier. Takes a little to time (not very long) to get used to the thicker feel but do not fear it. To me the main factor to consider is the following……if your a player that loves to play a ton of lead, fly through scales and bend and squeal the out of your strings these may not be for you. HOWEVER, if your a player that is more rounded in your technique or your just primarily a rhythm/riffer these should not disappoint. I think they do lead and soloing just fine but I'm not a shred all the time kind of player. At least give these strings a try and note you will probably need to make some adjustments to your ax but the sound is well worth it. Clean or high gain these take the win
Awesome For Those Low Tunings
Great for drop tunings. I use it for tunings like C# Standard, Drop B, and Drop A#. I tried it with Drop C at first and found it to be pretty stiff and bends were very hard. But holds up great for low tunings. The tone is great and the feel of the strings are great. If you're looking for Drop C strings you should get the next lighter set.
DR DDT 12-60
I do like this brand a lot but I think it could use a bit more work. The 12-60 set works great for C or B as well as Drop A and Bb. The 52 really anchors down the tension on the guitar yet the rest of the strings including the 52 are easy to play. Unfortunately I do think they should re work this pack, the 20 plain is too damn loose, at least change it to a 22 plain and the 60 that… read more I had in my pack got really loose quick even if I tuned to C which is pretty tight for a 60. Otherwise great for Drop tuning from C# to A. Probably would be as good as baritone sets too if you play baritone.
