Tune low play slow
great strings for a great price. They sound super clear and heavy. I play mainly stoner/sludge/doom and death metal and use these on my 24.75 scale LTD viper that I tune to B standard. The treble strings are a bit tight, even at that tuning, but I've grown accustomed to it. Sounds and plays great with C standard as well; I've gone as high as C# and they're fine in that tuning, but… read more any higher and they're just way too tense. But if you're getting these, you're tuning LOW anyway, and that's what they're best at. Going any lower than B I run into tuning stability issues, but other guitars may not have that problem. My only real critique is I really wish this set had a wound third. Other than that, great set for low tunings and heavy music, the gauges on this set are perfect for the tuning and guitar I use, I've tried several other sets for low tunings including Ernie ball mammoth slinkys and these are by far the best sounding and most stable. Recommended!
Only strings my Les Paul will accept for Drop A
It's always been a challenge getting my Gibson scale (24.75") guitars to drop A. But these strings are perfect for dropping to drop A on my Gibson! It's true, nothing drops like a spider!!! They last a long time too!!
Some of my favorite strings
I use these on a 24.75" scale Les Paul tuned to A Standard, and they have a very natural tension and low action (when properly setup by a tech or luthier). I couldn't be more stoked with the way they feel. These are the only strings I will use in baritone tunings from now on.
The only strings I play
I have been playing death metal for 15 years and when I made the switch to these strings a year ago it pretty much changed how I feel about strings completely. The 13-65 are awesome and they"re all I play now. I even got our bass player to switch to DR DDTs.
Very Good Strings
Just the other day these were shipped to me and they are great so far. I play in drop B and in A and these strings keep there tension very well. I have tried lots of other strings and they did not seem to work as well as these. I would not recommend bringing the tuning above drop B because these strings are really that full of tension. These are my new favorite strings and will be… read more buying them from now on. Just get them its worth it!!!!!!!!!!
