Worked Perfect For Me After Alternate Hookup Method

John Ross

I saw some other reviews mentioning that it kills sustain. I was having the same issue when hooked up the way the instructions direct you to. Then I found an alternate method that solved my sustain issue. I made a six minute YouTube video showing it all. Attached here.

And still undisputed champ!

This can cover anyone's style and needs but it is THE choice for heavy, high gain players. Many other brands come close but this one is always just that little bit better.

Beats NS-2

I'm impressed. It works pretty well and is very simple to use. However, it does kill sustain. I can see how this can be a huge annoyance for some. It's important to keep it dialed as low as you can get by with. There's no way you're getting two pancake style plugs in the jacks on the right. Also, it fits my Pedaltrain Classic 2 with regular right angle jacks no problem. That was read more a concern before I actually got it in my hands. All in all, I'm very satisfied. I had the Boss NS-2 and it seemed to let a whole lot more noise in in-between notes than this thing does. Even with the decay knob, you're just choosing to let more noise in. Lastly, it's a huge fingerprint magnet. May be more of a problem for some than others, but even if you wipe it with your shirt it's still going to smudge. Not something I should ever have to worry about with a pedal.

Great Noise Reduction Pedal

This noise reduction pedal is a great investment. It tames any noise that may be produced from your guitar and/or FX chain. In my pedal setup: In front of my amp, I have my guitar running into my pitchfork (Pitch Shifter) > Grid Slammer (OD Pedal) and a daisy chain cable that plugs into the guitar in port on the Decimator II (Noise Gate). The guitar out on the Decimator II will read more run a instrument cable into the the input port on the amp. For my FX chain, the Decimator II > Chorus >Tremolo > Delay > Reverb. Instrument cable runs from the FX send on the AMP to the Dec In on the Decimator II. I run another cable from the FX return on the AMP to the Output A on my Reverb Pedal. What's really neat with the Decimator II is I can really crank the Gain and Level on my OD pedal, and adjust the Decimator accordingly and will not get any sound until a string is picked/plucked. Oh, the Decimator is built like a tank and is easily the heavies of pedals on my board. This was my first pedal board build so for anyone else who is looking to go down the rabbit hole of pedals lol, I hope me explaining how I use the noise gate helps.

Outstanding

Super accurate silencing, no perceptible changes in tones which other gates have done for me. I have it in the overdrive loop ONLY.
