Love these
I put the DG-20 in my 2018 Strat and never looked back. I'm no David Gilmour but I'm a better me. I'm going to put one in my 2002 Hiway 1. Super easy to install. Might want to just cut out the ground wire cause you'll never go back to stock.
A lifelong choice
Installed a set in my Warmoth mahogany body Strat 12 years ago, because I suck at soldering. It was a great decision - not one problem out of the set in all that time. The only downside I can think of is the fear of hurting the electronics while fiddling with battery swaps- again, no problems, but it is a tight fit in my guitar's cavity. Tone wise, my impressions have always been… read more that the set's controls allow you to dial in your instruments exact sweet spot. I found that turning up the mid boost to 3/4 is the sweet spot for mine. I never use the EXG. I play mostly clean tone blues, and these pickups deliver a very "24 Nights" woody tone (you can really hear the timbres of your fingers on the neck). This guitar has always been the one that I NEVER think about changing pickups in. Very quiet. Quality components. Recommended.
They sound so good!
I've been playing two guitars since I started playing, back in 2002. My first was a 2002 Squire Affinity Strat (20th Anniversary Edition!) and my second was a 2005 Les Paul Studio. The Les Paul has been my main gigging guitar for the past 17 years, but if I'm being honest, the strat always had a better feel despite being far cheaper. The original electronics went out years ago and… read more I recently decided to dig it up and treat it to some new pickups. Man am I blown away by these EMGs. It now has that classic strat sound and amazing sustain. I haven't played a ton of really nice strats, but I can say that this guitar now sounds and plays better than my Les Paul ever did. I pretty much immediately made this my main guitar. I went with these because I didn't want to mess around with wiring and my original switches and pickguard had seen better days anyway. It was super easy to install. I did have to drill more holes because this pickguard is an 11 hole design and the original wasn't. No big deal. Everything fit, including the battery on my originally HHS guitar. No worries there. Maybe put some foam in if you don't want it to rattle around. I didn't. In conclusion, I'm beyond happy. I didn't think this guitar would ever sound as good as it does now. Are they the best? I don't know. I don't really care either because these are more than good enough for me.
Great!
I really like the sounds of this set up! I installed on a squire body. no soldering, had to trim the pick guard by the bridge. Easy peasy. There was plenty of room for the battery and even added so padding for it.
Amazing Set
Extremely easy to set up...I love the sound of my Strat Now... Sounds Beautiful....
