Good strings
I had these on for about 2 weeks. After about 70 hours of practice, they sounded too dull to keep playing. But you get what you pay for. Cheap strings won't last as long as expensive ones. For example, I played some Thomastik-Infeld Spectrum strings that lasted me for 300 hours!!!So it's all relative. The spectrums lasted 4 times longer but cost 4 times as much.Price isnt everything… read more though. I've played plenty of expensive strings that didnt sound good.Anyways, for $... a pack these are good strings. Pros: Cheap, sound good (a nice hearty sound), i didnt break any, lasts a long time (relative to the price).Cons: They feel quite tough on the fingers (imagine playing real dragon skin strings, it doesnt feel very good lol) so they don't have the smoothest playability.
If you sweat a lot, and/or play hard, try these
I play 120 shows a year on acoustic guitar. I play hard and I kill strings. Before I found these I had to restring every show. It was getting expensive and cumbersome. I bought 5 sets of Daddario, 5 of Ernie Ball, 5 Elixirs, Curt Mangen, Stringjoy, Martin, and a few other brands. Some of the high end strings I tried were terrible. They hardly made it through 1 show. Price became… read more one of the most important things to me since I was going through so many strings. In my string comparison test I found these and holy cow! Game changer for me. DR Dragonskin strings don’t feel like coated strings to me. They have a rich full sound. I love how my Martin OM sounds with these on it. They sound every bit as good as Stringjoy, but last twice as long. And cost 25% as much. I’ll be putting these on all my guitar from now on. If you kill strings fast try these, you’ll be happy you did.
Lasting Tone and More
I've been using DR Dragonskin for a few years. They notably last longer than other strings. The coating reduces oxidation of the phosphor bronze, also making it possible to wipe down the strings. I like the way they sound and I like the savings because they last longer than uncoated strings. You won't regret trying out a six pack.
Great feeling strings
I picked up some of these at GearFest and tried them out on a couple of guitars. I have been very pleased with them so far. They feel much better than the Elixirs, nice and flexible under your fingers. With such a thin coating, the tone seems also to be better than the Elixirs. If you buy the two-pack, the price is very reasonable too. It will take some time to be assured that… read more they last as long as my other strings, but so far they seem to be holding up well. I suggest you give them a try.
