These are great pick-ups. The EMG dual mode is not like the "coil-tap" from other pick-ups that cut power. These are actually 3 coils. There are 2 side by side and the third is stacked under the other. So when you go from the humbucker sound to the single coil sound, there is minimal loss of volume (if any). You get a pure single coil sound without losing power. There is great versatility… read more with 8 combinations of the 2 pick-ups. The tone is also fantastic. The 57 (bridge) has Alnico V magnets and steel poles. The 66 (neck) uses Alnico V magnets with Ceramic poles. You get smooth cleans, thick overdrive, and everything in between. The installation directions are very easy to follow. The only reason I did not give a full 5 star rating is that I would like to see this set with the X series pre-amp installed. That would get a 5 star rating.
