Solid- does what it needs to do.

These strings are not remarkable. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get them. They're not bad in any way, which I would expect. They're also not the best thing in the entire world, which I would also expect. They are exactly as the description says. They completely do their job.

String balls split in half after 6 months

These are good sounding strings, BUT.....when I opened the case today, six months after having put these strings on a Gretsch hollowbody electric, the ball itself for the "A" and "D" strings had actually split in half! And this guitar wasn't played much in the last during that time. I've never seen anything like this before, in almost 40 years of playing. And this was in standard read more tuning. So there seems to be a serious quality control issue in the manufacturing process of these strings. I've been using D'addario strings almost exclusively for decades, but this really makes me wonder if things are slipping at the company (cost-cutting measures, etc.).

Not right for me

I'm a finger picker and strummer. These were way too hard on my fingers. I couldn't get a good tone without a pick. I don't play well with a pick, even after 50 years of playing. I would recommend Matin Retro's Light 12. Fantastic for finger pickers!

Great strings

Have these on a 2004 Epi Joe Pass. Incredible tone and balance with the stock pickups no EQ needed.

Amazing tone

never under estimate what a change in strings can do for your sound. I have an Epiphone Joe Pass Emporer II Pro - it was shipped with D'Addario extra lights, and I liked the tone, but switched them out for these Chromes and was blown away - not only do I get a clearer, warmer tone, but the strings are better for feel and touch. If you're looking for something custom suited to read more jazz/blues playing, these are well worth a try.
