Absolutely Fantastic
I should state right out of the gate I'm using this mostly for keyboards-Rhodes, synthesizers, etc. This is one of the best analog BBD delays out there. Definitely. With the subtle modulation you can add, it really sounds like a tape echo. But you can get really crazy with the modulation if you want. Absolutely killer. The digital side also sounds great, basically two pedals… read more in one which is super cool. Also the pedal looks awesome, very 60s cold-war vibe which I happen to think is really cool. There's no aliasing with the repeats which is great because I honestly can't stand when bbd pedals have that. That sounds very low-bit-rate digital to me. The repeats aren't as dark as some other bbd pedals, but I don't mind. It is still on the dark side and very reminiscent of a hi-fi tape echo. When you want bright repeats, flip on the digital mode. You get so much delay here you shouldn't need much moreā¦if you do, get a reverb. Tap tempo is a god send. The oscillation button is really cool. All of the features here are great and really cool to have I took a half star off for the i/o setup and the wet/dry usage. I don't care so much about stereo operation, but couldn't we have had separate wet/dry outputs? My twenty-five dollar behringer delay pedal has separate wet/dry outs. That wouldn't matter so much if the pedal could go fully wet with the mix knob BUT IT CAN'T. So its basically useless for an effect send which is a bummer. But then again, I don't use delay as an effect send very often at all, so its not a huge deal. Bottom line, this pedal sounds great. Like REALLY great. You can tell Ibanez really took the time to dial in a fantastic sounding delay with whatever chipset they used. Oh, its also built like a tank. It looks cool too, and for the money it has features that shame some pedals costing twice as much. If you love delay pedals, this one definitely offers some things that you could use even if you have a bunch already.
My favorite delay pedal
I owned an Ibanez DE7 that I absolutely loved, but it got destroyed in a flood. After extensive research, I stumbled across the Echo Shifter and I was absolutely blown away. Not only do I like it more than the DE7, I prefer the capability it allows to create clean delay tones as well as infinate possibilities for oscillations and space noises. It also has a really cool retro design.… read more I highly recommend this pedal. It's destined to become a sought after classic.
If only
the oscillation button, when released, had a gradual decrescendo/trails I would give it 5 stars and it would still be on my board. That being said, there may be internal dipswitches to correct this but I'm not the type to open up a pedal. functionality outside of this oversight is great. I should also mention, the sudden drop off in oscillation can be a great effect in certain instances,… read more I just prefer a few trails in my playing.
Beat it at twice the price, go on. I'll wait.
And Ibanez looked out over their creation and said "It is good."
