Once I tried these strings I always come back.
Lighter is Better
I have several acoustic guitars. I find that playing my electric Strat with 10-46 gauge strings is much easier than my Martins with 12 or 13-52s. So I experimented by putting these 10-47 extra light gauge D'Addario strings on the Martin (Same 25 1/2" gauge as the Strat). The difference is playability is astounding. It is so much easier. But what about the sound? That was a… read more real shocker. I had the chance to do an A=B comparison with two guitars each with new sets of strings, standard light gauge and these extra lights. The extra lights had better overall response, and slightly higher volume. This is the exact opposite of what I expected. The strings are really reasonably priced. I like how D'Addario winds them in three groups of 2. It makes it very easy to unwind and choose the right color-coded string. The lighter gauge low E string at 47 can still be tuned down to a D without getting flabby. Excellent strings.
Typical Awesome D'Addario Quality
Some acoustic guitars are crafted to support heavier gauge strings (starting at the nut). Others have a sweet spot for lighter strings. Woods on an instrument make a huge difference in sound characteristics. My 1974 Guild acoustic (all maple) responds really well with these light gauge. Nice balanced sound overall. Great Strings
Excellent quality, great sounding strings. The 3 pack is a good idea for savings and will encourage me to change strings more often.
