I have tried many brands of 80/20 and PB strings for my Guilds the past year. All over the map re gauge, brand and price point. Coated and Uncoated Strings made outside the US, strings made inside the US. Elixir, Martin, Gibson, Dogal, John Pearse, D'Addario, Curt Magnan, others. Too many to list. I was on a quest, let's say. After all that, D'Addario EJ17s won. They just sound… read more great , are affordable, are sold everywhere, and the mediums give my guitars a step up in time, projection, and volume over D'As more popular EJ16s. And for medium gauge, they feel awesome! Perfect tension and not too stiff on the fret hand. Kind of tired. Think I'll go home now.

These strings brighten up an Ovation acoustic guitar. They increase the volume across the fret board. These are the only strings I use on my Ovations. Move up from light strings to these mediums. You will be happy you did.

I was wondering why most pros use D'Addario strings. They last for about 30-40 hours with light strumming. They stay in tune better than other manufacturers. The sustaining tone is what really impresses me.
