Enjoyable for drop tuning, loud for standard
I have a 12 string dreadnaut i never play anymore and used to sit in its case without any strings. found myself playing lots of downtunings and alternate tunings so i wanted some beefier bottom strings, I liked them so much i decided i'd put a whole set on the twelve string and tune to d standard. sounds fantastic and the body seems to like them. It's got a nice loud boomy sound… read more that's realy fun for me.
Typical
I never use Dario if I can help it since they all feel old and brittle, and these are no different. They came out of the pack feeling like someone had already been playing on them for 2 or 3 weeks...... hard. In this case however, not the worst thing. I got them to go on my roundneck res. Which at the moment I am using for slide in vestapol flat. They give it a real ease of slide… read more on a rough and tumble sound I can't get out of strings that aren't played in. I wouldn't put strings this big on an acoustic anyway but if I did I wouldn't use these ones. Butnfor this specific need. It's iyeet.
I am going back to Ernie Ball
I always play thick gauge strings ranging between 12-14 on electric and 13-14 on acoustic, I got sick of using electric strings on my acoustic so I looked for an acoustic set with a 14 for the high D#. I bought two packs of strings and strung up my guitar. the First pack the C# string broke before it even got to pitch. second pack the string sounded dead after 2 days and the C#… read more and A# strings broke after 3. pack is supposed to last long and you can't even have them on a guitar with out tuning down a step and a half down. The tension measurements on the pack say standard tuning with a 25.5 inch scale and I was tuning down a half step with a 24.75 inch scale, a long story short these strings are awful. don't waste your money on them.
Long lasting? hah.
Well i purchased these the other day, broke them in so thats like an hour of playing. then played again that night for like 2 hours... woke up to play and the bastards were as dull as ever. they sound good for awhile but man 3 hours of playtime is not cool. i need to find other makers of heavy strings, this is the only one i can find... rahh
