They fit what I do
Love these strings for my style of playing. Electric/acoustic A&L Roadhouse and Recording King RP2 CFE. I finger pick (barehanded) and arpeggio strum with a lot of bending and some palm dampening. I do not like ring. I like bass and mids that are clear with a side order of guts and these allow what I'm hearing in my head to jive with my ear reception. I keep 'em on 'til they have… read more gaps in the windings over a fret. I have pickups and fingertips and can manipulate the sound all kinds of ways, and since brightness doesn't fit my style...Love the soft feel under the fingers of the phosphor bronze and the tone spot bend-a-bility. These are not sweet sounding, long run strings. In fact, I break 'em in hard just to lose their luster 'cause I love the workin' man thump and non glistened clarity. Tried the coated but came back. They fit what I do.
Middle Middles
A few days in they will lose their luster, they're phosphor bronze though, it should be expected, any string really. They maintain a neutral tone after that, allowing for plenty of personal flavor. I have heavy hands and I have this issue of damaging the G string from bends, it seems to be common from what I understand. Bumps appear on this string alone, and they don't have enough… read more clarity and projection for me. These are perfect vanilla strings, but if you need more or less maybe look elsewhere. I have no problem with D'addario, best brand for the money, of course it's always debatable, because music is so subjective. I'm transitioning to 80/20 .13's from these, but they never failed me.
My favs
Ej26 are my favorite for my acoustic in the studio...they seem to sound and last perhaps better than some of the others...YMMV
Absolutely terrible strings
I bought 15 sets of the D'Addario EJ26 Phosphor Bronze Custom Light Acoustic Strings from Sweetwater for my month and a half long tour to California and back. I have been a fan of D'Addario strings for a long time but these were the absolute worst strings I"ve ever used! They would die out before I could finish half of my set. Just thought you should know those strings should not… read more be on the market! They sound great for Soundcheck and die quickly after that they are the absolute worst!
Don't waste your money on these.
I had went and bought a few sets of these several weeks ago and was extremely disappointed . Before I had made the switch to Acoustic several months ago, D'Addario was the only brand that I would use on my electrics but , their Acoustic strings are just horrible. These lose their tone after only a couple of days of use and don't have that brightness which I like to have coming from… read more my acoustics. Not worth the money folks.
