Stunned by the quality of workmanship
The Inspired By Gibson Epiphone J200 I received has the type of workmanship you would expect from a high end USA made acoustic. The bracing is clean and well done the fret work was perfect as was the action there was no signs of excess glue. The finish on the J200 is as nice as I have seen. I'm a little fussy about how the high end sounds but no problems with the J200 the high end… read more is crystal clear no sharp notes. The bass is deep and the J200's overall sound is balanced. The neck smooth and fast but not to thin fits my size large hands very good the tuners are tight and it stays in tune. I like the vintage color of the J200 also. Having played for 57 years now I've seen many high priced guitars the IBG Epiphone J200 puts to shame.
You couldn't buy this guitar from me
I have owned this guitar for 9 months. I took it to a master luthier after I bought it who said he could not improve on the setup. He actually wanted to buy it from me. No deal. I don't know if they are all like mine, but you would have pay me enough to be able to afford the real thing from Gibson plus some.
Blond Beauty
I have owned too many guitars to count for the last 52 years of playing. This definitely qualifies as one of the best. Build quality is excellent and arrived set up perfectly. I can't say that about many of the instruments I have owned. Sounds really good with plenty of volume and very distinct sound in a mix. I did install John Pearse bluegrass strings for my listening pleasure.… read more This is a lifetime keeper for me because it checks all the boxes that I look for in a guitar and it sits on the knee very comfortably. It is the best value that I have found in a new guitar.
Worth every penny!
I had read good things about the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson guitars and I was not disappointed when I got mine. Everything about it is First class from the quality craftsmanship to playability and sound. My J-200 is a stunner. The action was set right, no sharp fret ends, the neck is smooth and feels good in the hand and the finish is beautiful. Quality appointments such as… read more real bone for the nut and saddle and Mother of Pearl for inlays. To my ear the guitar has a robust sound with great sustain, deep bass balanced well with the highs. Stays in tune really well. The Epiphone J-200 is at a great price point for a quality made all solid wood guitar. And it's fun to play!
Great quality at a good price!
I purchased the aged natural gloss EJ200, and love this big bodied beauty! It plays well, and sounds remarkable too! The neck feels comfortable, the fretting and crown inlays are easy on the fingers and a joy to look at! I only wish it would have come with a soft case/gig bag, but it was superbly packed by Sweetwater and well protected! Hats off to Epiphone/Gibson Musical Instruments!
