ESP LTD B-204 is a solid punchy bass at an affordable price
I own 38 different bass guitars……..Squier, Fender, Ibanez, Schecter, Musicman, Jackson, G&L, Michael Kelly and more. I wanted a good sounding shorter bas I could practice with in my living room with my bass amps and that I could also drag into my home studio. I have 5 or 6 short scale basses because they are more comfortable to play on my couch. You need to spend at least $600… read more to get a good sounding bass and some of my short scale basses fall short on tome because they cost less than $400 in some instances.I wanted to try ESP and the LTD B-204 had good YouTube reviews. For about $ this bass sounds and plays like a more expensive instrument. The first thing I noticed was how solid and balanced the bass was. It is about six inches shorter than an average Jazz bass but feels really comfortable in your hands. The ash body feels heavier than it looks and that makes for some great punchy tones. The three band active EQ makes it easy to dial in you favorite frequencies for stage or studio. This bass sounds great whether I play it through one of my multi-effects pedals (Boss GT 1B or Trace Elliot Trans-B), my custom pedal board or one of three virtual bass pedal programs on my PC. It also sounds amazing through headphones. This is an excellent intermediate bass guitar for recording or playing onstage. Looks great, fells great and sounds great!
