Big power in a small box

Brandon Olszewski

This regular-sized pedal delivers all the ambient effects you could want (for a modest pedal board, at least) with the usual & exceptional Wampler tone-sculpting capability. Great having extra reverb + delay all in one box. The "trails" feature is great (love mine ON all the time), as are the delay pattern features. Only complaint is that Wampler LEDs are so crazy bright! I ended read more up getting some of those Rockboard LED dampers and put some tape over the delay pattern option lights.

You want ambiance, we have ambiance

If you're running your effects through a single mono amp and delay is a favorite of yours AND you like reverb that sounds like the heavens have spread wide just for your guitar tone, then this is for you. I plugged it into a completely dry Roland Cube 80XL on a pristine clean channel and it was beautiful. You have control over how much presence there is in the delay repeats with read more the tone knob, in my opinion, a required control for this kind of pedal. This is an awesome pedal for noodlers. Set the repeats high and let them echo as you play over them. You have a trails control but I can't imagine why someone wouldn't want the trails. Sure, you trade off true bypass but the buffer is quality in this pedal. I added in some Uni-Vibe and chorus tones and it stayed with me. Plays nice with modulation but what about drives? I tried it with a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe and Pinnacle Deluxe, both sang sweetly. Tried it with a Walrus Ages and Warhorn, again, fantastic. Friedman BE-OD Deluxe, XTS Atomic Overdrive, Digitech Valve Distortion, LPD Sixty8, Sixty8 Deluxe, Sixty8 Stacked, Eighty7, Eighty7 Deluxe, and a ton of others, all sound GREAT with this delay and reverb. The delays cascade when using the subdivision button so you get a beautiful blend of echos into that plate reverb. There's no tap tempo but don't get hung up on that. This is easy to dial in and I find I don't miss it at all. I've been using this through an Orange stereo tube amp. I run it into a TC Electronic Mimiq doubler and I very much recommend this if you have two amplifiers. It adds a largeness to the sound that is just majestic. Give the Ethereal a try.

Fantastic sound, great price

This pedal sounds as beautiful as it looks! I've wanted one of these pedals for quite some time, and when I purchased an amp that didn't have reverb onboard it was the perfect opportunity to do so. That said, I was a little worried if the plate reverb would sound "too nice" for some styles of music, where a classic spring reverb is usually a better fit. I tried it out yesterday, read more and while its definitely sweeter than a typical amp reverb, with a little tweaking of knobs while doing some A/B comparison to the spring reverb on my Fender Princeton, I found I could get usable setting in that vein. I was also able to get a pretty good slapback type of delay. With those experiments out of the way, I have found I can get great sounds for pretty much any style - not just the gorgeous ambient sounds that you hear in most of the demos. the option to add a secondary delay rhythm is pretty cool - it opens up some great creative options without having to stack multiple delay pedals. I've heard the critics who complain that there isn't a tap tempo, or that this should have a stereo output option, or that it should have a few more controls.... but part of the beauty of this is the simplicity. To have this level of sound quality and flexibility in such a simple package, and at this pricepoint, is pretty incredible. Great pedal, highly recommend.

Simple goodness

I own a bunch of delay pedals. I own a bunch of reverb pedals. But I wanted something simple to stick on my little acoustic board, and I didn't need a bunch of presets or deep editing. This is perfect. It might be my simple brain, but less options make this pedal work better for me - just twist knobs until it sounds nice, and play. So simple to just lean over and give it a tweak. read more And, it sounds great. Really lush - but you can shape it nicely to sit in the mix (high pass filtering is a good idea, before you hit it). You're gunna dig it.
