Friends, your guitar or whatever instrument you play needs attention. I could not figure out why my equipment was not giving me the 'sound' I desired. On the Sweetwater site about two weeks ago and saw the D'Addario XL115-3D's, I decided to give them a try. Prior to ordering, I had the distinct pleasure of listening to three salesmen in the Walmart talking about 'tone'. Not once… read more did I hear specifics about the instrument itself and what dang gauge of strings they used. I did manage to hear the guy they were talking to say, "I really don't care what strings are on there. I just want to sound like Randy." Over the years I've played around with the issue and felt it wasn't important as far as string gauge selection BUT THAT WAS WRONG. These D'Addario's are freakin' awesome in sound and they feel so crazy-good that I've found myself practicing non-stop for hours on end each day. My playing has increased because I have the correct tone in accordance with my instrument and equipment. I still have my ME-80 and NEVER have I heard output like this!! My guitars are two ESP Ltd's; EC-1000 and MH-400. Active and passive pickups but man, the action is where it needs to be and these strings gave my guitar a "sound-lift" (Not a word, just deal with it, Bro)! Of course both guitars are built differently but the 'phat' sound of my EC-1000 along with those EMGs' have become PHATTY-PHAT and crisp or PHATTY-PHAT and deep depending on my mood. I've had 6 DIFFERENT manufacturers on both of my axes and never before have an entry lever set of strings brought out the tone I needed EVER!! I can't decide which guitar to play because the sound has just opened up a 'black hole' of "I'm on my way to Rock-Star status with the cuties" that I know is the highest I've ever heard in both guitars. You must explore every option possible. With that, the last and and final step WILL be the right set of strings. These work for ME but if you're into exploring how to bring out the tone of your guitar, EXPERIMENT! Make sure your axe is adjusted properly, electronics are working, and the strings bring out the best of tone instead of just sitting there ringing out when they should be SINGING OUT!!
Fantastic strings
I got these strings today, and so far they are fantastic. As far as I'm concerned, a 3 pack of strings for only ~$14 is a fantastic deal, especially for strings as nice as these. I was using some Slinky's before but I rusted those pretty quick.. lesson learned - Wipe your strings down before and after playing and wash your hands! Have a great day
Daddario strings are my favorite
Daddario strings are my favorite. They are flexible, not too stiff like some, and they have a beautiful chime which others lack. They also sound good for a long time, and are consistently well made
Best strings on the market
It seems almost silly to rate/review D'Addario strings of any kind. I've used em for years & never gotten a bad batch. I play professionally & they last, seemingly, forever,& sound good. The only thing I don't like is that they put all the strings in one plastic package instead of individual, paper, envelopes. Seems strange to think plastic with an environmental intent. I don't… read more see that it protects the string from moisture any better either.
