Good for a 7 string in drop f#
I play a schecter keith merrow standard mkiii 7 string 26" scale, I dismised the 0.64 string, the 0.74 fits perfec in the hedstock
VERY heavy strings(see caveat)
This set came on an ESP LTD EC-258(26.5" scale, 16" radius). The high 3 strings are standard fare, and the .074 is also about the standard unless you're going to E1 or lower. The rest of it is a head-scratcher. WAY too heavy for standard, especially on the 27 and 28" baritones most 8's are. I've got it a half step down and it takes a Herculean effort(and my scale is relatively short… read more for an 8). Unless you're going a whole step down or lower I'd put together a custom set w/singles or buy a 7 string set w/lighter gauges and add the 8th as a single. But to each their own. As far as quality, they are Daddario XL nickel wound, a very good string.

I mean I was down tuning how do strings… read more break from down tuning. I know it's not because the bridge because I 9 65 gauge strings on it before and they worked out pretty good. Oh what can you do.
