Fender American Performer Jazz Bass

Bought one New. Love the way it played after the action height Was set to my liking. Beautiful Bass Body and Vintage 1960's paint. Love the Maple neck with Rosewood finger board. Hate The pick up sounds. Very Noisey picked up every slight touch of the strings when playing songs. Changed out the pick ups for EMGJX pick ups. And replaced the stock Fender Bridge with a new Babicz Bridge. read more I love this bass now! Sounds so much better and no extra Noise! I'ts a Keeper!!

Sweetwater was very helpful in my purchase of my new jazz bass. The bass is awesome!! Everything was already setup. The intonation, the action other than a couple personal tweaks the bass was ready to rock!! Sweetwater's team are always professional and helpful. I wouldn't want to buy an instrument anywhere else.

Great Basic Bass

Well built American Fender at a very affordable price. The pickups a fairly high output which works well when changing out my Musicman with active pickups. Great Jazz sound bright and deep with a honky mid- range that fits well in the mix.

Good, no frills Jazz Bass

Got this in last week and have been playing it nightly. Overall, I've gotta say that I'm satisfied with it. Love the color, flat finish, and the overall look of the bass. I also like the smooth, satin finish on the neck, and the tuners--they feel very smooth and solid. As you would expect, being an American made bass, the fit and finish work is very nice. With that said, this read more bass is a little underwhelming, especially when I compare it to some of my other Fender Jazz/Precision basses, and some of my other brands, that cost quite a bit less. The action is decent, but I can't get it as low as I'd like without it buzzing. To be fair, I have the same issue (to varying degrees) with all of my Fender basses. Tonally, it sounds like a Jazz bass, but Fender is marketing the "Greasebucket" tone circuit as a selling point, as if this is something very unique. I can't tell a bit of difference in the various tonal positions between this one and my other Jazz basses. In the final analysis, when I compare the cost of this bass to some of my others, I was expecting it to be a little more high-end than it seems to be. Again, it's nice, pretty, and sounds good, but for the price, I'm not as impressed as I had hoped to be.

This bass seriously kicks. Bought it as a backup for my Jazz Elite and find myself reaching for this one just as often as it's big brother. Amazing tone with a ton of punch and great play-ability. Looks great too!
