A Beauty
It's a beautiful guitar, has great sound (I'm partial to the Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups with the series option 4-way switch). The neck has a fantastic feel and overall, the guitar feels lighter than a regular Telecaster (semi-hollow......duh). Sweetwater's setup is perfect and I was able to play immediately after removing it from the box. I'm very happy with my purchase.
Sweet Guitar
I bought this guitar after a Stratacastor that I bought 45 days ago quit working !! Nick my sales tech was great about the problem, I have 3 Teles and decided to get a 4th. from the reviews I had read I decided to get the neck plekked...( sharp edges ) This was worth the money it plays like butter ! You know its a quality guitar when it comes shipped and is still in tune...As always… read more I immediately changed the strings because I have played D'Adarios for 25 years lowered the action to suit me .What a great guitar and… cheaper than a USA . I would have gave it 5 stars but I believe Fender should give you a hardshell case...
I love this guitar!
I really was blown away when this arrived. The quality, fit and finish, and overall playability was pretty decent, right from the box. Like every guitar I own, I did a complete set-up and re-string, and it's every bit as nice as my American Strat, with a twist on the sound that it makes. The Candy Apple Red really pops on this guitar, and it's so light! This is a great value,… read more and I'd highly recommend it to anyone that's looking for a thinline tele body, without the American Elite price tag. As always, my sales engineer, Aaron Smith, was fantastic and he really knows his stuff. He's my go-to guy now for everything guitar related. Thanks for the awesome service, Aaron and Sweetwater!
Nice, Not Perfect
This is an awesome guitar, I love it. Sounds great, looks fantastic, good playability. As far as performance, no complaints at all, none. And my sales engineer Nich is top notch and always takes care of me. So why no 5 star? Finish issues. Two things knocked it out of the perfect category. First thing is the fret ends are too sharp. Not razors, mind you, like a lot of cheapo… read more guitars, but really not in line with a guitar in this price range. Some people are not bothered at all by sharp frets ends, and some can't stand it. I would say I'm in the middle. These frets need some work, not a big deal to me as I know how to do nice fret end job, but should I really have to at this price? The other big thing to which I will say no excuse, is the sloppy finish in the F hole. Residue was left from what I assume was gunk from wet sanding. Believe it or not, they sprayed right over it with the final red coat. That is just sloppy lazy workmanship. I took my Xacto knife and cut the crud out to make it look right, but now I need to buy some candy apple red touch up paint. I'm not sending it back as I love the guitar, but if you don't do your own work you might have to spend a little extra. The sad thing is my Fender Tele Modern Player Thineline made in China is perfect in every way. Perfect finish, and fret ends I could not possibly improve. And this guitar cost about half as much. Fender, I hope you read these reviews. I love Fender guitars and this review is intended to give feedback to the factory.
Superb guitar for the price.
I like Thinline Telecasters and always wanted a red one but they were either hard to find or expensive custom models. Well, not any more! Fender has produced an affordable, well made thinline in these Mexican made Deluxe models. Fit, finish and craftsmanship are excellent at least for the guitar I bought. It was good right out the box, no set-up required. The noiseless pickups… read more sound good to my ear and allow a broad range of tones from mellow jazz to country twang. I really like the locking tuners--makes string changing really fast. Highly recommended!
