Amazed...Truly Amazed

I got this bass and I have to say...Fender knocked it out of the park on this bass. Just before the Covid pandemic started, I had an American made Fender Jazz (non-Geddy Lee model) in my possession for a few months. Did a recording with it and was bummed when I had to return it. So I figured that I would ultimately get a Jazz. Did some research and read great things about the read more MIM version of the Geddy Lee model. This bass is a no-brainer to get. It is quite a dream to play -- well balanced, reasonable weight and fits against the body really well. If I ever have to do a live gig again (play 100% in the studio these days), I would be happy to do a couple of hours with this bass without fatigue. The sound is punchy, deep and natural. The sustain is amazing. The stock pickups offer wonderful variety in tones. I've been playing mainly finger-style and slapping/plucking with it so far but sounds great with a pick too. Easy to get that growl naturally and can really shine here with a little dash of overdrive & EQ. Notes up and down the neck are clear and articulate so strummed chords sound balanced without any pedal or outboard EQ. Likewise, the build quality is just as good as the American Jazz that I was living with for a few months. Fender is charging too little for this baby, LOL. If you are in the market for a 4-string bass with passive pickups, this is a great deal. I'm sure this bass can go head-to-head with comparably spec'ed 4-strings double, perhaps even triple the price.

I purchased this bass in March with the high hopes that a Fender would impress me SO Much, that it would become my "Number One"..... It did. I hardly touch any of my other basses now... The TONE I get out of this bass, along with its smooth playability has actually helped improve my bass playing. That's my story and I'm sticking to it Buy one of these. You wont be disappointed... read more And buy it from Sweetwater. When I ordered it, I told my sales engineer to send me the heaviest unit they had. The idea being "Heavy would sound full". It does

I purchased this bass because I've ABSOLUTLY loved the way it looked and sounded for Getty. Always thought I HAD to have one and frankly, I'm glad I do. They say you can't be a bass player without owning at least ONE Fender. Great tone. Nice pickups (for a stock set up) and I put some Elixers on her The reason form you ONE missing star? I've been playing Ibanez basses for years. read more Then I added a Schecter to my collection and still quite happy Do your research before buying this guitar. I never knew or thought that a Fender would have four less frets than less expensive guitars. I'm a big guy and it looks like a Strat on me. Not to mention my "self developed hand position" system of knowing what notes I'm playing without looking down is out the window. So, all in all a great guitar and if it's your first, you'll never notice ANY problems with her. But it's taking some time for me to get comfortable with her so My 2006 Ibanez GSX650 is still my "number one", with this one a close second

Beautiful!

At first I was a little hesitant to purchase a MIM Jazz bass, but I eventually decided to give it a try, and I'm really glad I did. It looks and sounds just beautiful! Also appreciate the great service from everyone at Sweetwater! Very satisfied.

Exactly what I was looking for.

So I decided I wanted to get a Fender Jazz bass. After doing a ton of research, watching countless YouTube videos and playing a couple at a local music store, I had something very particular in mind: 1. Maple fretboard 2. 70s style pickups I tried the Vintera series, but didn't really care for the smaller radius fretboard. I have played 9.5 inch radius before and liked that read more feel a lot better than the 7.25 of the Vintera series. Also, the Vintera only came with Pau Ferro which is ok, but I really wanted maple. I didn't want to spend over $1,000 so I was about to just order a Player Series with a maple neck when I happened to look at the specs on the Geddy Lee. Maple fretboard, 70s style and spaced pickups and it had a version in 3 tone which looks awesome. After discussing with Patrick at Sweetwater I decided to give it a try. Super easy and had it within 3 days. The fit and finish are fantastic, the growl of the pickups is exactly what I was hoping for and the neck is outstanding. This was my first time ordering something like this online. I would never before have considered ordering an instrument like this online but had heard great things about Sweetwater. It was cool to be able to pick out your exact guitar with photos online. The guitar came set up perfect. Well done Sweetwater!

After giving our local shop an opportunity(they told me they couldn't give a date when or if they would receive one) I opted to contact Sweetwater. I loved the fact that you could have a choice of not only which one but even select the serial number. It was an incredibly easy process to purchase the bass and easy checkout. Within the very next hour, an engineer named Kyle, called read more me to follow up, verify and answer any questions I may have had-WOW! I quickly received my bass at my door and very well packaged. After opening, I inspected my bass which was not only perfect, but IN TUNE, I was just completely blown away by the experience. To be honest, one of the best if not the best experience I've ever had. The bass is absolutely incredible-tone, fit and finish and the neck is very nice, thin-absolute BUTTER! The neck has black binding, a very nice touch. It also stays in tune, it's a very reliable and trouble free instrument that I feel will hold up over time. It truly is one of the best jazz basses I have ever played-period. I'll definitely do this again. My e finer Kyle was great, I had great customer service and plenty of follow up. Something the local stores do not seem to do anymore.

Okay, I have never purchased a guitar on line before. My thoughts have always been to see it and play it in person. Of course, this means you have to find what you want through Craigslist, or a local ad, or a friend of a friend, etc.. I called me rep at Sweetwater Derek and I asked a LOT of questions before pulling the trigger. I was amazed that this Bass shipped the same night, read more and arrived a day earlier than was posted by tracking! The packaging was perfect and so was this bass. Tuning was almost perfect, (remember 55 point inspection) and after a slight tweak of the tuners, I was playing this bass in 5 minutes! This thing is beautiful, the neck is smooth and fast. Sound is amazing! I couldn't be happier with Sweetwater and this instrument. Truly, these guys are the real deal. I will continue to buy from Sweetwater. I recommend you do too.
